The only coach that Florida could have hired (now that Meyer is gone) that would frighten me is Saban, and he's already at Bama. Florida is just not as scary any longer.

Sabah would have been scary but let's add another name to that list, Jim harbaugh. I would hate to have to go against him at a school where football is actually as huge as Florida. He's a hell of a coach and gets so much out of his players.

No and it still doesn't without Newton they are nothing... he is suppose to be a defensive coach and that is not there strong point...when Gus leaves they will struggle imo

Word is he hired Applewhite as OC. First order of business for CWM will be to get some RB's that can produce.

No ... some Texas kids go to Baylor, some to Texas Tech, some to Texas A&M and at one time we had opened a good pipeline into Texas ourselves

The best players in Texas go to Texas. Texas has their pick and muschamp won't change that. It was like that before he was at Texas, while he was there, and will be when he is gone.

Tell that to Bob Stoops he has 2 five stars from Texas this year. I am not saying Muschamp will take over Texas or anything but he at least has roots there and maybe can pull a kid or 2 a year.

Also didn't a lot of Vol fans want Muschamp to replace Lane the Brain. I don't love the hire by any means but I can't say I hate it either.

the only kids from Texas that don't go to Texas are the ones that don't commit on the spot.

This!

Thats why they have 22 commits at the beginning of summer. You commit then or you are out. No playing the recruiting game at Texas.

With the ties and relationships WM has built in Texas, he will probably bring a kid or two from Texas at least in the next year or two, but that is all he needs(especially if they are 4 and 5* talent) when you add those to the talent he gets out of Florida.

Did the Gene Chizik hire scare you?:whistling:

No and it never will. They are in the West and happened to land a once-in-a-generation type player in Cam Newton.

Gene Chizik has had his best year that he will ever have as a head coach, from here on out it is all down hill.

Brings his recruits with him to florida even though he is the defensive coordinator? So far it looks like he has an incredible recruiting class. I heard muschamp was the main recruiter.Maybe not. ButDoes he bring some of his recruits with him? What happens to floridas current recruits? Thanks

Don't think so. Most of the kids they have are from Texas and want to play for Texas. He had a great job recruiting in Texas. Was kinda easy.

Yeah from recruiting Texas to recruiting Florida. Life is so tough.

I know some talent will stray, but muschamp to Florida isn't going to create some pipeline to Texas. Most of Texas's recruits are from Texas. How often do you see Texas go outside the state vs everyone else?

Muschamp to Tennessee was a good hire for us in the condition Kiffin left us in. Muschamp to the acclaimed #3 best football coaching job in the country = WEAK HIRE by Florida's standards.

Pretty much agree. Muschamp is still a "splash", but lots of risk. I think it's same thing as when we hired Kiffin.

Dooley coached on offense at LSU and Muschamp coached defense. This series might have got more interesting than it already is....

I dont see him bringing alot of his recruits to Florida from Texas....Most of those recruits are Texas boys and have known since they were 11 years old that they were going to be Longhorns.. I dont see them following Muschamp to the Swamp.... However, Muschamps ability as a recruiter will probably salvage the majority of the Gators recruiting class that other schools including us were hoping to raid.....sorry, but true.

If you don't consider this a huge hire, you're sadly mistaken. Just from a recruiting standpoint, UF now has a direct pipeline to Texas, as well as Florida.

I did not know stoops was pulling all the florida talent
