By no means am I comparing him to Chris Lofton but the kid can play ball. I just dont want UT to pass up on him. I dont want them to be like shoulda woulda coulda. He is a natural athlete that can do more than hold his own. Im not saying he could come in and start or anything but he could play 5 mins a game. Maybe he would get hot and make something happen. But by no means am I saying hes the next Chris Lofton nor am I saying the Rocky Top League plays good D. The kid was in high school playing against guys with the size and talent that hes never seen 1/2 of before and he held his own. Most high schoolers cant do that. Oh yeat btw if Rocky Top wasnt good enough the kid tears up his AAU team as well. Pretty sure he is almost always on the all tourney team that has so many high D-1 players. Guess thats not good enough either.

It would be nice to have another Rutledge Rifle. But many great HS players have difficulty in major conference competition. Some do work out. I haven't seen Skylar play, but have talked to many who have. They are high on him.

Yeah I played football agaisnt the kid and was in the opposing student section in basketball his junior year and the kid is a real athlete. He just stands out from all the other kids. I just think if some larger D-1 schools give him a shot then he will do more than hold his own.

Just like football, I think it's important to sign the top players in TN. It sends a message to other kids growing up; they want to come to TN if they're a top player in this state.

Why is this thread still active?

For some reason people are trying to hold on to the idea that some kid they like has a chance of contributing if he were to go to Tennessee. He doesn't. I am sure he will fit in somewhere, but not in a major conference.

Hell, it's right there in his evaluation in the link provided. He won't be able to guard his position if he plays in a major conference. The last thing Tennessee needs is another guy who can't guard the damn perimeter.

But what do I know?

I hear you, eamain...I can't help but feel that a few people's goal is to make sure that this thread is bumped up each day....to keep it on top of this thread.

If UT did sign a kid here and there from Tennessee then that would give kids a goal to play for the Vols maybe leading to them training and playing harder. I just dont want UT to miss out of the kid. I think they need a player with the 3 ball. Tennessee has missed out on some TN talent in the past like Brewer, Humphrey, and Oglesby. Idk if you would consider the duo from College of Charleston missing out but Wiggins (Greeneville) & White Jr (Bearden) are still decent players.

Are you putting Humphrey and Oglesby in the same league as Brewer?

Skylar visited Santa Clara this past weekend. He will visit Marsahll this week, and then take an Official visit to Wake Forest the following week. He has offers from Santa Clara, Marshall, Winthrop, East Carolina, College of Charleston, Chattanooga and others. South Carolina asked for film and is considering a visit. UAB is coming to visit him in the near future. Those are his options at this point. Walking on at Tennessee is always an option, but doesn't seem as likely as it once did.

Although Donnie Jones isn't expecting any letters of intent today, he will be receiving an official visit from Skylar McBee over the weekend.

This is big news. Marshall offered McBee at the end of February and has been trying to land an official visit since then.

I have said it before but McBee might have the purest jump shot in the country. Really solid all-around player.

This is from Marshall board.

A no risk situation. If he can play, wonderful. If, which I think is more likely, he can't, nothing lost.

"We have an agreement that I have five years there (with a potential redshirt) and that I can be on scholarship for three years."
Then, my position changes. This move is utterly idiotic. It will make the signing of Marques Johnson look like evaluatory genius.

Well - it's only an "agreement". He'll never end up with a scholarship unless he tears it up. Probably will get the shaft like West.
