You guys who are saying no to Dyer are just silly....did you not watch the guy as a freshman at Auburn....i assume you would have said no to Cam Newton as well when he was leaving Junior College....these are kids and you can bet Dyer would be on his best behavior to raise his draft stock in his final year before the NFL......my goodness think of all the thugs we had under Fulmer and that didn't hurt us too much did it.....but hey, let's stick with Dooley type high character guys lolololol. Wake up people...talent is what we need right now period. Lane and Neal are okay...but neither one has shown to be what we really need at RB.

Haslam has reservations.

He doesn't want the bad press of UT Player's guns (fake or not) showing up at his PILOT stores.....

p.s...... I did see him as a Freshman............ got kicked off

p.s....... I saw him at ARK ST.............got kicked off.

I'm with BUTCH

He went through the entire freshman season at Auburn on a NC team and was MVP in the championship game against Oregon....he didn't seem to hurt Auburn too much that year...Fulmer got it....and I hope Butch will as well...you need talented thugs to win...this is football not patty cake. Bama is loaded with thugs right now and they are doing fine. This Dooley high character type talk is merely fantasy and nothing else...you can take Dyer on a strict ZERO tolerance rule and it wouldn't hurt the team one bit.

For god's sakes people this is why we suck right now....we need the most talented players period.

The top 10 teams in college football right now are all LOADED with thugs...but they all have great coaches to keep the team unity in check. Meyer when he was at UF had all kinds of thugs and me first guys but he knew how to put them together and make them play together.....stop with all of this Dooley type talk nonsense.

I don't see the appeal of LOADING a team with thugs.... Say what you want about other teams but lets be honest we've had plenty of thugs over the years and look where it got us. NOWHERE but behind everyone else.... give me a break man..... TN does not need anymore negative from anywhere right now especially from the NCAA. That being said an 19-21 year old kid who drank some and smoked some green isn't a thug. Dyer didn't commit the robbery and hasn't killed anybody or stolen from anybody so I would qualify him as troubled and not a thug.

So I say why the hell not give him another chance and come play for UT for a year or two. But we DO NOT NEED a team loaded with thugs. I'd like to keep a little class here and not get a bunch of robbers and wife beaters on this TN team.

lol to the ignorance of the posters on VN

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Webbvol agrees 100%! We need all the thugs we can get! Thugs win NCs! Most 18-22 yo kids are thugs! Bring in Crowell too! I,and most of you, made mistakes as kids. Forgiveness! Go Vols!

he finishes his classes to qualify in May. we will likely not know for sure whats going on til then. I would hate to see him go to OSU or USC and rip it up.

There are plenty of coaches that would love to take a chance in order to get that kind of a Rb.

Why not us?

Lets bring in the thugs!!! That way they can get kicked off in a year or two and leave holes in our roster, and not mention the investigation from the NCAA to follow!! Hell yea I love seeing a program get setback multiple years!!!!

You can add Dyer to the list of people not coming to Tennessee, You can place his name right under Gruden`s. But hey, Dooley is no longer at UT so he no longer has anything to do with what type of players come here. Get off the mans back, he tried and he failed......let it go.

I think rajon if he can stay healthy this year and keep from fumbiling, will go in the draft. hes a workout warrior and will impress in the combine and i thought he started to really come on midway through the season, till he got hurt.

I haven't followed this too closely but the only interest I've noticed anyone at UT showing to Dyer is on VN. Don't think the coaches have shown any interest.

Seems like I read an article recently in which CBJ was quoted as saying 'no' to the possibily of Dyer to UT. As KBVol indicated, more to do with the type of character Jones wants to bring in.

This is true. UT will not touch him with a 20 foot pole. He's not going to get the chance for his third strike at UT.

You need to gain some reading comprehension skills man...i simply said all/most of the top teams are loaded with thugs....that is just the reality of it....

Most of the best teams are composed of younger african americans who grew up in poverty from the suburban/inner cities...duh...it doesn't take a genius to figure this one out...these guys ain't all angels...it may sound racist, but it's the truth...just go look at where the majority of US prisoners come from...

But didn't say we need to try to load the team with thugs...i said we need to load the team with the most talented guys regardless if they are little angels or not....bottom line is we need Dywer...the guy is a gamebreaker the RB position and could make a huge difference for us.....i am guessing all you who said no would have said no to Cam Newton as well, someone who was a true thug in every sense of the word. :banghead2:

Once a thug, always a thug. No thanks.

1. I don't want Dyer here. A college kid that goes around with a gun in easy reach is bad news. The only exception I can see if a known and persistent threat to your life exists and the police (as often happens with minorities) isn't taking action on it. But even then, it's bad news.

2. Once a thug, always a thug is a fallacy. People change due to learning to be better. People learn due to shoe on the other foot experiences. People learn witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. People learn due to being thrust into significant roles of responsibility. However, when constant hate and other negativism is directed at someone who made a mistake or just an out and out stupid decision, you can be sure they have no incentive to modify their mindset. They become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

3. I know the above because over decades I watched young people I worked with go both ways depending on attitudes of people around them. To my shame, I even had some youths I and others deemed so bad (with good reason) who made me wish I could kill them and get away with it. Yet watched in astonishment as these people made drastic changes after the types of events I mention above. A number of them actually hunted me down on Facebook to thank me for tolerating them, or not almost daily condemning them, or giving them one more chance, or merely some words I didn't even consider important and had forgotten, but meant a vast difference to them internally at the time. As a result they're model citizens, model workers, and even model parents. Some who'd I have sworn back then they were headed for a dead end.

Finally, I repeat, I don't want Dyer here. Mainly because I think he's unsafe for our current players to be around. But if he seeks admittance to the UT as a student athlete, I hope the UT while saying "NO" also seek to do it with compassion. Or in Jesus' words, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

WOW... What does prison have to do with 18-22 year old college athletes?? I understand what you are saying but man come on.... Football is about CHARACTER!! Really hate to see you as a football coach probably end up looking like Shane Falco and the replacements team....
