At one point I had heard that redshirting this year could be an option. Surprised we haven't seen some sort of prognosis. He was the best LB when healthy.

Haven't heard anything, but maybe one of our Vol bro's or sis's will post some good news.

Hopefully he'll be ready to go. He tore his ACL in the Mizzou game, right?

That's about a 10 month recovery until the AP game. Brian Randolph balled out in the spring game, and he tore his ACL in September.

Heard Coach Jones say on the radio that he is excited to see what Maggitt brings to the defense in fall camp, that he has been out with his injury so he is looking forward to him being back.

I don't know if that means he is 100% going to be ready, but I like the sound of those comments.

They need Curt even if he is only 80-90%. He brings toughness, leadership, and football smarts. Hope he has a good year and comes back for a spectacular senior season.

we were definitely better with him last year. sounds like he's cleared for camp, probly be some evaluation during that time as to whether he gets a full go or not.

Months ago I told you all that there was a decent chance you wouldn't be ready for fall. He said he is not 100 percent then he will not be on the field risking getting injured any further. I hung out with the guy two nights ago and he said he's making progress but he is not close to 100% percent. I want to see him on the field as bad as you all do but unless he's 100 percent he will not be playing.

I think Maggitt is a little more disciplined and takes smarter lines than AJ.

They are both good, just in different ways. They are both WAY better when they play together though.

I don't know of anyone other than you, the OP, and possibly Maggitt's mom and dad who think he is better than AJ.

Not sure where I said he was better. I said we were better with him - honestly I don't think anyone can make a true evaluation of him based on how often he's been injured in his career.

Either way - I want him back this fall.

Thanks.

Dont like the "isn't close" part tho.

When he was healthy you think he was better than AJ? Sursly?

IMO, yes. More mobile and able to cover ground. Remember that Maggitt was voted all-fresman LB. Of course the MLB is going to register more tackles due to the nature of position.

Knee or lingering turf toe the culprit??
Doesn't sound promising with only a month till camp.

its like 35 days til fall camp and 65 till the ap game. I think he will atleast see limited action in the fall camp and the first two games then be back to 100% for the big O game.

You said he was more disciplined and takes straighter lines....sounds like an endorsement over AJ if you ask me, which is just asinine.

I also said they were good in different areas. Maggitt was as solid as AJ their freshman year. the best case for me cam in the NCSU game last year, Maggitt was all over the field until he got hurt. I have not said that one is better than the other - I think they are about equal when healthy and together they make a VERY solid combo.

Sorry that no one can vary from your opinion, that'd just be asinine.

If we can't win the first 2 games without him we are in serious trouble.

Curt has had a few issues since hes been here, and unfortunately hes tried to play through a lot of them. That's why he's reluctant to wait rather than press the issue and end up hurt again.

As much as I want to see him play - I completely understand that point of view.

Maggitt, AJ and Sapp are going to be a very good 1st team LB's. To bad we don't really have anyone behind them....yet.

AJ does take some horrible angles. He's not perfect. Maggitt is as athletic as any LB we've had in a long time. Just get healthy and prove it!!!!

He's not essential until September 14. He tore it on Nov. 10 2012.

10 months and 4 days to get ready. I say he suits up for Oregon in playing shape.
