Any news on Zane Denton

Last time we were informed was that he was away from team and working some things out. Hoping next semester all is good and he is back with team fully. Any new info would be appreciated. His home run against Clemson is an all time highlight and I will remember that forever.

Yes I know he is on the team but it was mentioned he had been away from team handling things…so wondering if anybody had an update

As far as I know, he has never been to the complex since they came home from Omaha-ish. No players seem to know but Vitello has said repeatedly he will be with the team.

It looks like he’s no longer enrolled at UT. Hopefully that changes but if true, that young man will be missed. He’s a VFL and provided incredible memories in his short stint on Rocky Top!

Classes don't start until Jan 22 and the the registration deadline is not until Jan 29, so there is plenty of time for that to change.

Yep, I hope he is doing ok as well. Just saying that sometimes the status will switch to inactive and switch back before the semester. If that doesn't change by Jan 29, then we'll know, and hopefully he's on to bigger things.

If it says he left then that’s something he did himself. He’s a good guy, wish him the best of luck

Yet….Spring tuition is due 1/12/24. The Winter Mini Term is an interesting concept.

I think it's only due that early if you registered by then, could be why some people register late! Our dept doesn't offer any winter mini-term classes, thankfully, seems pretty chaotic.

Losing Denton would be a pretty major loss. That's a big, powerful bat in the lineup to lose with a lot of SEC experience.

Regardless, wishing him the best and hope he is doing well. Health and happiness come first.

McKee just had a post on 247. Paraphrasing, but he says Zane and Tony have talked and doesn't look like Zane will be on the team this spring...but then he dropped he may be back in 2025? No speculation as to reasons.

I came back to edit and also mention he said "nothing is finalized." However I'm of the opinion these guys don't say much unless they've been told.

That’s a big loss. Zane is a really experienced bat and leader that this team could have used with so many new faces. Obviously want Zane to do what is best for him and his happiness, but from a pure baseball perspective this is a huge blow.
