Couple things Majors said:
1 - Fulmer has no idea what it takes to build up a program. He inherited what Majors and his staff built.
2 - It's tough to fire assistants, but it needs to be done. The implication seemed to be that CPF would not do it.
3 - The head coach is responsible for players not executing. They teach them, M-F, what they ultimately spit out on game day.
4 - Fulmer doesn't have to same values or upbringing as Majors. Majors wouldn't even comment on Fulmer!
5 - Special teams are something that is intricately taught, but is more or less paid lip service by most everyone these days.
6 - Randy Sanders is a good guy and a scapegoat.
That's some of it.

Here are my responses:
1 The Vols were 5-6 during the 1988 season, the year before Phil Fulmer became OC. In 1989, the Vols finished 11-1 in Phil's first season as OC. The next 3 seasons, the Vols won 9 games each season. The first time during Johnny's time as HC that had happened. Usually, Johnny followed a 9-win season with 6- or 7-win season. Johnny won 10+ games only 2 times during his 16 seasons at UT. Fulmer has accomplished that feat 8 times during his 13 seasons.
Fulmer's fist season as HC, the Vols won 10. Then 8, 11, 10, 11, and 13. In his 6th full season as head coach, with his own recruits, he did what Johnny never did at Tennessee... won a national championship.
2 Fulmer is too loyal... Sometimes its a good quality and sometimes its a liability.
3 I agree
4 My belief is that Fulmer has a better value system than Majors.
5 Special teams took a backseat at Tennessee the day Johnny Majors got rid of George Cafego. Majors is not the first bitter former coach at UT.
6 Randy Sanders may be a good guy, but the results are continually getting worse. Scapegoat? Comes with the job.
All in all, I think Johnny is kicking a man when he is down. [insert sarcasm] Great values, right.
