any reports on today's scrimmage?

The comparison between Heupel interviews and Pruitt interviews is remarkable. CJH is positive and upbeat, unwilling to throw anyone under the bus. CJP was so negative, criticizing players by name. Never hesitant to throw others under the bus, and then back over them just for good measure.

He learned from the best. Except that person gets away with it b/c he wins.

Boogie Bentley did a show on Youtube and had a coach T on the show that was at the scrimmage. Coach T spoke glowingly of Nico and several defensive players including the BYU transfer Pilli (SP). Coach T also said the Milton was inaccurate with his passes which does not surprise me as he is working with new receivers at some positions. At this point the defense is ahead of the offense as is usual for spring practice.

Apparently the high wind was causing him some real issues yesterday. Kind of like the Vandy game last year.

I wonder does Heup smoke? I have yet to see him speaking without hacking some.
Surely they get exhaustive physicals annually..
If I was a HC of a major college football team I would def smoke to cope with all the stress.

With all respect thatā€™s not exactly what Coach T said re: Milton vs Nico.

Instead what he said was actually a little worrying bc his observation is that Joe still has trouble making the right judgments in live fire situations. He tends to throw to covered receivers instead of seeing the play develop.

Whereas in his judgment Nico can see the whole field.

In static non-live throwing drills he said Nico is actually slightly ahead of Joe but thereā€™s really little difference there.

Yes he said all of this after adjusting for the difference between the ones and twos plus non contact jerseys and developing plays that were stopped before fully developing etc.

The IMPLICATION being that Joe might struggle in games which could result in a potential QB controversy this year.

TIFWIW and donā€™t shoot me Iā€™m just the messenger šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø.

And one can speak in complete sentences and knows what asparagus is.

You gotta give us more than that šŸ˜‰

LOL

Been many years since I've taken much from spring practices. Spring is great for getting younger players reps and them learning more about systems and how to practice, study and learn. As far as transferring into the fall and game outcomes, not a lot to gained by what is seen or what is said about the practices / scrimmages. Its experience gained but not close to the experience to be gained by playing actual games.

30 years ago I would go to practices / scrimmages and leave wowing about expectations for the fall. Over time you learn to wait for the fall to make real judgements on players and the team. Lot of springtime heros end up being not heard from in the fall.

Not being negative or pessimistic. Just understanding the reality of what is gained in the spring after a lot of experience taking in spring work.

I no longer attend those sessions either so you know.
