Any word on Fulkerson coming back

Most opinions on the board are that Fulk probably returns and Pons will not.

You should change the thread title to “Fulk” then there are only another 8 or 9 to go for a complete set.

Both need to. With couple highly recruited players coming next season and what's on roster now, wow, look out. That could be a title team....

We'll see how good Barnes is at keeping them at least one more season. They aren't ready.
Neither one of them are near ready if we are being honest. But both would be drafted fairly high because of their ceiling. So it comes down to them deciding what they feel is best. Trying to guess on what young men will do in that situation is never easy.

Pro money will tell the tale.

For anyone wanting to know why Keon Johnson is so highly regarded, but who don’t see the evidence of greatness on the floor, ESPN+ has a great article that gives incredible insight from Jonathan Givony into Keon and why he is so well-regarded in the NBA community despite modest numbers.

Within that article is their latest mock draft and has Keon going to the Bulls at #7, overall. Unless things just completely fall apart, he suffers a significant injury, or he makes a bad personal decision with regards to returning to school, you can likely put to rest the idea of him returning for another year.

Interestingly, however, they have Springer in the 2nd round at 39th, overall. I would think, especially with his age (he only turned 18 in late September), that he wouldn’t take the bait on the chance of missing out on the 1st round. He has 1st round ability, but this draft is super, super deep. Some of the same issues that are currently plaguing Keon are present for Jaden, as well, but he doesn’t have the perceived upside, athleticism, or length that Keon does. Another year, especially with Kennedy Chandler running point, could really improve his stock. He also has the benefit of a father who was drafted into the NBA to provide some level of wisdom and advice.

I think Fulky is gone. He has to try to go make money. I think a sixth year in college basketball would be awfully redundant in terms of him trying to have a professional basketball career. I think he can definitely make 6 figures for several years. Why would he give up another one of those years?

funny you can get drafted & barely average double digits these days. Fulky & Pons won't even be first team all sec maybe not even 2nd

Pons will make 2nd team off defense/ name alone, but i was really hoping both would perform well enough to be first team selections. Kinda disappointing neither will be.

Maybe he isn’t interested in heading overseas?

Anosike expected back, Fulky is probably 70/30 coming back, I think best case is 1 of Springer/Johnson return but good chance both are gone. Maybe a hot take but with Chandler and Mashack coming in I would take Fulky returning over Johnson or Springer returning for next years team.

Do you have a link Chris as I couldn’t find it with a search?
NBA mock draft: New projections for picks 1-60

Again, it’s an ESPN+ article, so subscription required. If it were just a snippet, I’d copy/paste, but even the Keon portion of it is pretty lengthy.

Cliffs notes: Johnson plays on a team that suffers from a lack of a true PG, a “slew of inconsistent playmaking and finishing options”, a slow-paced offense and defensive-minded system, and it still likely getting his feet underneath him due to missing the majority of his SR season in high school.

Also notes that he was primarily a baseball player growing up, that he lacked the backing of a big shoe company AAU program, and played small-town high school ball all likely attributed to his late bloom.

Givony credits his ability to create, his body control, acceleration, among other things give the suggestion of room to grow. His current lack of strength, inconsistent jump-shot, and “ill-fitting pieces around him” are holding him back. He also notes that his shooting numbers aren’t encouraging, but his efficiency inside the arc and his shooting motion give hope. Also touches on his defensive ability, which we all know is near elite.

Can’t be elite defensively if you regularly fail to stay in front of the guy your guarding. When Pons gets switched onto a wing notice how much less he allows them to drive past him
