Any word on the severity of JJJ’s injury?

Ankle. It was swollen last night. He walked on it, did therapy. MRI today. While I know nothing about those results, I’d assume he won’t play Saturday and they’ll work him back in for Bama if he regains mobility. As of last night, they weren’t saying words like “severe” or “torn things”. Hopefully I’ll hear some buzz on MRI later.

Just an educated guess but no way in hell he goes from not putting weight on it last night to playing next week. Looks like a 3 to 4 week minimal injury but could be wrong.

Some guys are snake bit and he appears to be one. Not his fault. Just crap luck. I was like that. Team called me general hospital. Not much I didn't tear, cut or break despite being a fitness nut. Just one of those things he can't control or avoid. Really bad for his draft prospects since his history is one of being injury prone.

He was walking around on it during timeouts at the end of the game.

Yep, but he obviously was in pain trying to walk on it coming off the court. Did not seem to want to put much weight on it

In my experience, it's the guys that put out the most effort every time they participate, just their nature to go hard.

Soft IMO.

Hope he is able to get back sooner rather than later. He probably hasn’t lived up to his five star billing coming out of high school, but he’s still one of my all time favorite Vols for who he is (or at least seems to be) off the court. JJJ just seems like a really good guy who you would want your kids to look up to.

Hope he gets back in time for SEC tournament. Rushing him back may not be for his long term benefit. Frankly in the 3 SEC losses he has scored a combined 11 pts, has shot 1 for 14 from 3 pt line, 5 for 26 from field, and hasn’t shot even 1 FT. He contributes in other areas in every game but is frustrating offensively.

With JJJ sidelined for probably at least 2-3 weeks do other guys get minutes in his place, or do the usual suspects just get more minutes? Maybe this means Mashack plays more. If Mashack could develop his offensive game further then he would be such a solid player.

Also, I know everyone says Barnes doesn’t teach offense well, but when he first got here he turned a 10 ppg player in Kevin Punter into a 22ppg scorer! I mean where has that kind of teaching gone? Having a guy scoring like that this year on this team with be so valuable! I know Barnes likes having balance, but you know what I love having even more? A freaking killer on offense. We need one and we haven’t had one in a long time

We haven’t had a “killer” since Grant Williams.

I think Phillips sees more minutes, Key as well, but yes someone else will need to as well. Be interesting to see if it’s Mashack or a big like Plav.
