Any you own a Pit Bulldog?

The circumstances Behr was "tested" many times, was nothing short of amazing.

I understand your post and agree 100%, and then some.

If thunder/lightning hits close, Roscoe sticks his head under the coffee table. Lol

His dad on the other hand (Duke- died two years ago) would lay next to me while I sighted in my rifles.

I'm curious about Behr though, did he like to sit and put his paw on your leg/knee?

All my goldens have done this. Look me in my eye and throw that paw up on my leg.

Yep. It was weird, in a very cool way.

Funny you mentioned that.

Gonna have to limit my involvement in this discussion. Uncontrollable Emotions are "knocking on the door". Haha. Seriously.

There are much scarier dogs than a Pit out there. Just wait until the flea market breeders find out about Kangals or Caucasian Ovcharka dogs!

Problems with loud mouth neighbors, UPS trucks, Pits, Brown Bears, wolves, or the occasional passing lion? Problem solved!

I think I could manage a Kangal, they are by most reports very even keeled. Ovcharka is a four-legged murder factory though from what I have heard.

Mine hears a shot and looks for a bird to hit the ground. He also is one of the most gentle dogs I've met

Coming back to this.

In response to my post, I'm not sure where you were going with this comment.

Or were you just making a general comment?

I have a Brittany

My neighbors have one of those. My daughter LOVES that dog. He is sweet as can be and by all accounts an amazing quail dog. His owner that hunted passed away though. If I knew anything about hunting quail I would take him out myself.

For the record.

My best friend has a Brindle. Her name Sugar. She is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever spent significant time with. She has been a part of my "family" for over 8 years. Her and Behr were best of friends. I posted pictures of the two of them together in the last thread on this subject. Now that Behr is gone, she spends as much time with me as she does at home. I love her.

Pitts get a bad rap. I would guess it's "hangover " from many years past. I think more responsible owners are adopting and raising them better than 20-30 years ago. But, as a breed, I don't trust them.

Take your Pitt to this test. Fire a shot gun. He or she perks thier ears up and looks around like "what was that, where'd it come from....cool".

My dog, same situation becomes the first dog to climb a tree in 1.2 seconds.

What does that tell me? Which dog is more likely to kill someone?

Put her in the kissing booth :p

Just saying that the response to a gunshot means little in regards to temperament. My dad has 6 of the sweetest dogs I know and they would barely flinch

They are amazing bird dogs but they also make great family pets too. We had our dog before our boys (now 3 and 5yo) and he has adjusted well. They don't know life without that dog

Couldn't decide if you were agreeing with my comment or not. Not like you to agree with me, publicly anyway.

My Pit is the sweetest dog ever. Far nicer than my dachshund.

It would suit me if you were euthanized. Now go back to your safe place, loser.

Said every pit bull owner after it mauls someone. Im sure yours never will, just saying...thats what everyone says

So don't pull the trigger [until necessary].

I get it and am all for it. What i was saying is if a company has to have an advertising campaign to tout a safety on a weapon, there is no safety so dont say you have one. To me, its similair to pit bull owners constant effort to talk about how nice they are.

The first time that I'd ever heard of a Glock was about 30 years ago. KPD had them and one accidentally discharged when a LEO was subduing a suspect. Bullet hit him in the head and killed the guy.

You think LEO would have their safety activated on a gun, no matter what brand they are carrying?

I have no idea. IIRC, in that case, the officer had the suspect on the ground and he (LEO) had his weapon drawn. The suspect might have even been cuffed. Then the gun accidentally went off and killed the guy. The defense attempted was that those Glocks were prone to accidentally discharging.

Eh, they were trying to eliminate confusion between a firearm that just had a trigger and no safety vs one that really did have systems in place to limit accidental discharges. A lot of this goes back to the 1911 which has a VERY short and light trigger. It'd be nuts to carry around a 1911 cocked with no safety. Remember the Glock 17 came out in the early '80's and lots of things about it were pretty new. Some people just can't mentally get passed not having a safety. There are lots of people that freak out over 1911's carried "cocked and locked" just because it looks scary to them. I can still remember early on some idiots decrying how the polymer framed Glocks would be invisible to airport security. (apparently forgetting the steel slide)

These days lots of manufacturers now make striker fired models without external safeties and in large part because many people actually prefer that feature.

As with all firearms the real external safety is the user.

No they don't, I carried a Berretta 92 a while back, carried it off safe all the time as taught in the academy.
