I followed him all through high school. Saw him play probably 25 times. I have seen some great high school players in Tennessee...Hardaway, Vaughn, Day, London, etc. No one..NO ONE...comes close to Tony. Today I picked up an item Ive been trying to find for a few years now...an NBA game used jersey from Tony. I finally got one!

Anyone above the age of 16 remembers Tony. The 96 Wildcats were the greatest college team I've ever seen.

They are often unfairly forgotten in the debate about greatest teams ever. That said, the '90 UNLV team and the '92 Duke team were both superior.

Yep, those are the two teams I always hear about...I have a tremendous amount of respect for what those teams accomplished, but was too young to appreciate them at the time.

I was at the UNLV-Louisville game in Jan. '91. The Rebels ran Louisville out of Freedom Hall. Denny Crum still has nightmares from that game......

I thought the '91 UNLV team was almost as good . . . until the night Ga Tech took them down in one of the best Final Four games I've ever seen.

I still to this day believe UNLV threw that game to Duke. Too many reasons to go into on this forum but I believe it in my heart. I live in Vegas and have ties to that town...lets just leave it at that.

Hat,In your opinion, what team from UK do you consider to be the best to ever come out of Lexington.

I grew up in a BIG UK house hold,so I've watched them since the Jack Givens days.

I remember the '90 UNLV team really well, but I never got to know the '92 duke team because I was in military training, and later Kuwait,so I kinda missed that whole basketball season.

Rupp's championship teams in the '40s and '50s were obviously great. In the modern era, I'd say the '96 team is the best, with the '78, '84, and '93 teams competing for second.

Not sure I'd go that far. They're as good as anyone 1990 forward, but there are a bunch of teams prior to that I'd take against them.

There are some UCLA and UNC teams that could have played with either. With Tark at the helm, we'd be talking about Jordan's teams up the there. His Junior team was best of his career. They were better than his freshman team that won it all.

I don't agree. The '96 team dismantled just about everything in its path. Nearly half the roster from that team had long-term NBA careers.

I'd love to see '96 UK take on '92 Duke.

Derrick Anderson and Antoine Walker were the only good pros off that team. Guys like McCarty and Pope were simply 12th men. Laettner and Hill both made NBA all star teams.

Up early this morning. I had you pegged as a party all night sleep most of the day guy.

I agree Brian. The '96 UK team was probably the best team I've seen in my 37 years.

I played against Tony several times in a summer league in highschool. The guy could shoot, but I will admit that I was surprised at the level of success he had at the next level.

Derrick Anderson was a different story. Of the multitude of guys who would go on to play D1 that my teams faced over my HS career, he was the single best offensive player I saw by a large margin. Walter McCarty had a lot of talent but had serious issues with work ethic, an unusual characteristic for a Pitino player.
