This conference is unbelievable. I can't believe anyone could argue that the SEC is not the strongest conference in college football.

You look at this league from top to bottom. I can't remember back to a time when SEC had as many good teams.

Here is my ranking from the best down. What do you all think?

1. Auburn
2. Florida
3. LSU
4. Tennessee
5. Georgia
6. Alabama
7. Arkansas
8. South Carolina
9. Kentucky
10. Vandy
11. Ole Miss
12. Mississippi ST.

ha nice article, i like all the comments from the PAc-10 coaches trying to explain Cal's loss to Tennessee.

"I watched the Tennessee game closely, and that game didn't have to be like that for Cal," said Oregon State coach Mike Riley, a 41-13 victim last weekend.
"They gave up two touchdowns on two hitch routes. If they played them tomorrow, they'd make that tackle and it would be a lot tougher on Tennessee. Physically, they played them pretty well. Watching the tape I said, 'Wow, this is different than most people's impression of this was.

 He obviously didn't watch the whole game. If he did, he would have noticed that the Vols DOMINATED that Cal team for most of the game, in just about every aspect.

lets not kid ourselves, we knew, and I said after the tennessee game that Cal would probably be a 10 win team this year. They are a good PAC-10 team. BUT, they are nowhere near SEC caliber. Look at their games since, the only team worth much is minnesota, and they arent very good at all. The rest of the teams are a couple of PAC-10 overrateds, and the Portland State Vikings. Why is everyone still talking about tennessee when they talk about Cal? Because we are the only powerhouse they will play all year except USC and they got spanked. PAC-10 coaches can make all the excuses they want about missed tackles, but missed tackles alone dont make a 35-0 score.

I wouldn't rank the Pac-10 as the second best conference right now. I would say that the ACC and the Big 10 are both better.

As far as the Cal game goes. They got it handed to them by a more physical, talented, and better coached football team. The people on the west coast just can't deal with it. They can find excuses wherever they need them. But they just got their lunch handed to them by a team that lost 6 games in 2005. And it does go a long way in showing the strengh of both Conferences. I think it tells more than bowl games show. In this conference we beat the crap out of each other all year. We have big game after big game. Not one or two. It lasts all season. Then after we have went through a conference schedule. We get to go to a bowl (usually) to face a team that we are not to excited about. What I mean is how many times are you going to get excited about playing a Maryland, or Clemson in a peach bowl? Or Iowa or Wisconsin in a Citrus bowl?

Well Cal doesnt have such an impressive bowl record either. Who was it two years ago they got spanked by after a season of complaning about being left out of the BCS?

All this smack talking is fun, but seriously, we better be ready next year, were gonna have a target the size of texas on our jerseys.

There are 5 to 6 teams in the SEC that would do the same thing to Cal that Tennessee did....and several more that would give them more of a game than they would want. Dominating the second tier (anyone other than SC) of the PAC-10, and lesser Big-10 teams like Minnesota does not give one National Power legitimacy.

The lil' 11, aka big 10, bretheren I live around whole heartedly belive the lil' 11 is leaps and bounds ahead of every other conference.

I aksed them if they would take the bottem dwellers of the lil' 11 over the SEC bottom dwellers and they said no, we have Ohio State and Michigan.

I'll stop right there...........

this year the SEC is tops...the win over Cal is looking better and better and no matter how hard anyone tries, you can't erase 35-18.

But as for the rest of the conferences...

SEC--pretty self explanitory.
Pac 10...i know this ain't popular, but they got 3 really good teams, and 2-3 other decent teams...it's really not a bad league this year.
Big 10...it's all about Mich and OSU...and that's enough.
Big East...WVU, L'ville, Rutgers, Pitt...all pretty good, and two in the top 10....3 undefeated, and all have wins over other BCS conf. teams.
Big 12...OK, TX and Nebraska...the rest of the league is terrible...mizzou is a fluke.
ACC...there isn't a league out there worse than the ACC. Miami, FSU, VT all unimpressive. When Wake Forest is your crown jewel, you got problems. Clemson and GT are probably the best two teams right now, and neither is sniffing the top ten.

I happened to be in Los Angeles during the UT-Cal game. I could only follow on my cell phone. :(. But anyway, I brought a copy of the Los Angeles times back to New Orleans with me for one reason: Ainge was quoted as saying something along the lines of, "This isn't about Tennessee vs. Cal. This is about South versus West Coast. This is about SEC vs. Pac-10."

Since then, Ainge has moved waaaaaaaay up my respect scale. Hooray!:)

What a joke. The only difference that would've made would be the Vols scoring slower and keeping the starters in longer resulting in Cal not even scoring.

So instead of 35-18, it might've been 42-0.

OK...you can't have Florida behind Ut and UGA...no way...they have two conference wins, one of which being over us...

Auburn
Florida
LSU
UGA--undefeated...for now:p
TN
ARK--they did beat Bama...and BAma has two conf. losses right now.
Bama

that's the way i see it.

Just because they beat UT doesn't mean I think they're better. It just means they were better that day...and I'm not really sure about that...I would refer to it more as Christmas in Sept. for the crocodiles...as for Ark. and Bama...let me re-do my list:
1. Aub
2. LSU
3. UT
4. Ga.
5. Fla.
6. Alsoran #1
7. Alsoran #2

SEC
Big 10
Big East
Big 12
PAC-10
ACC

That is the way I see anyhow. The PAC 10 has three decent teams and the ACC is awful.

Louisville - OK...WV - maybe...Pitt and Rytgers - come on

If you look at the Sagarin ratings...In the PAC-10, Lou. is behind USC and Ore, WV is behind those two and Cal, and you add UCLA, Wash St. and Wash. before you get to Pitt or Rutgers.

Lou would be 2nd behind Texas in the Big 12. WV would be behind Tex and Okl, and you add Neb. before you get to Pitt or Rut.

Lou would be 1 in the ACC, WV would be 2 behind Clemson... Clem, Fla. St and Va Tech. are ahead of Pitt and you add Wake before you get to Rutgers.

Little East better than the ACC...I might give you that one.
Little East better than the Big 12...ain't buying it
Little East better than the PAC-10...that dog ain't huntin'
