Anyone else impressed by the improvement of Ryan Childress?

Well, I don't expect him to do too well against them considering they have a consensus AA, a potential freshman AA, and a possible All-ACC at the post. I think he is good enough to be our 3rd real post, but I just don't think he will fare against one of the top post corps in the nation.

Then he won't be much help against LSU, Alabama, or Florida either.

I'm not saying he won't help, he just won't average 10 and 5 against those teams. Maybe 6 and 4. There is a reason that we start 3 players that are 6'2" and one that is 6'4". I don't think we will beat any of those teams inside, but, if we can hold it to around 60/40 inside with those teams, we will have a good shot. UNC on the other hand will require a game like we had against Texas last year(Lofton AND J. Smith will have to go off and few TOs).

I was very impressed with Childress. Basically, he remolded his body.

He's gaining confidence and becoming a real presence inside.

J. Smith seems a lot more versatile as well.

Apparently, Smith outworked everyone on the team during the offseason and that is why he is starting. If he can find some consistency, he could be an All-Conference type player.

The next game is Coppin State(not a NIT game) on Sunday and it is at 4 PM.

Hat, what do you know about CS?
Fang Mitchell's a pretty good coach. They always overschedule and get beat up in the nonconference. We'll beat them 25+.

I'm sure that Fulmer doesn't make his players train. They probably sit around all day and watch reruns of 3's Company.
I think TCHFCATUTK is more of a Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, and Petticoat Junction fan.

We need to get em' off their fat butts and make the work out with Sweatin' to the Oldies with Richard Simmons.

I never understood Richard Simmons. For someone who was always sweatin' to the oldies all of the time, he always seemed a little a plump..

Last year I was concerned with Ryan's toughness, but this year he seems like he is more willing to get in there and bang around with the big boys. Hopefully, he can come in and get a few rebounds, etc. His offensive game inside looks better, too. As stated before in this thread, if we end up matching up with UNC, then we'll be able to better judge just how far he has come.

Looks like you had this one figured out about right, hatvol96 - good job.

As far as Ryan goes, he had 10 pts & 2 rebounds against Coppin St. He has scored in double figures in 3 of the 4 games, with 9 points in the other game vs. Fordham.

If the North Carolina matchup happens, we'll see what kind of game he has, and have a better idea of whether or not he'll be able to help us against some of the tough SEC foes.
