Anyone else think our schedule is as good as we could ask for?

Not saying we will run the table. Not saying we will win tomorrow. Cautiously optimistic each game. Sports will rip your heart out.

BUT...

- We played 6 ranked teams in REGULAR season last year. We only have 2 this year at the moment.
- We play Florida away tomorrow but they are down.
- We play Bama away but they may not be the bohemoth they have been in the past. Still one of our biggest/toughest tests.
- We play South Carolina at HOME.
- We play TAMU at HOME.
- We play Georgia at HOME.
- The rest of the schedule is comprised of games we should win.
- Even with losing a game, 11-1 could still get us in the playoffs. Losing to Bama and some how beating an undefeated Georgia at home...I think we would be a lock. That's way down the road...

With all that said...to me the schedule is on our side this year.

You were on a run until you got to 11-1 and the playoffs. Granted, it's still a possibility, but I just don't think this roster has that kind of season in them. Then again, I didn't see last season coming either.

Swap Virginia, AP, UTSA, and UCONN for Penn State, Clemson, Colorado, and Memphis. That would be more ideal. Our 4 ooc games this year are embarrassing. I don’t want to see Tennessee sleep walk to a win vs UCONN. I’m want to see them play and beat the best.

Name any team in the SEC or power five that would schedule these three along with their conference opponents. Are you high?

Agree that the schedule is favorable for a playoff run IF we had a very good team. We have a good team but not a very good team in my opinion. I will be very happy with a 9-3 record and being competitive in the games we lose.

Austin Peay gave us a real close game which will prepare us for SEC games.

Playoff talk can wait until we beat Bama assuming we’re undefeated by then. We've not even gotten past Florida yet.

But to your main point, I agree. The schedule sets up very well for us. If Milton and the receivers get it together we could be in for another great season. Defense is doing pretty well and returns are on point. Punts need a ton of work and we’ve had way to many kickoffs go out of bounds for only being two games into the season.

With some improvement in all those areas this could easily be a 11-1 or 10-2 team. If not, then sadly the floor is probably pretty darn low. 8-4 or 7-5 type thing again. I’d rather we not return to the before times.

Even though it's totally unlike every other power 5 ranked team? The exception being Notre Dame. We play in a brutally tough conference. Yes, maybe a Penn State, Miami or USC home and home, but the remaining nonconference games should be mid majors getting a payday

Gotta be honest with you-that A&M game scares me. Been kind of dreading it since last year to be blunt

Jimbo is a clown at this point, but they have the best talent money can buy. In most cases, superior to that of UT.

They ever put it together, only Bama and Georgia could go toe to toe with them right now from a talent standpoint.

In normal fashion when it comes to UT football, I would expect the Aggies to have the game of their season in Knoxville.

I think it definitely sets up nicely.

Some of our fans want our team beat up playing top tier OOC while other teams skate so BVS will endure & they can cry Fahr so & so & be happy it’s their life it’s what they do.

The only thing scarier than a bohemoth is a hoshemoth.

If the end result is a playoff appearance, then I won’t mind.

I think that Petrino may be the replacement for Fisher in 2024.

An 11-1 SEC team this year may have a tough time getting in. The conference has not fared well at all in OOC. The best win is...Ole Miss at Tulane?

Think it will be conference champion and nothing else unless teams in other conferences blow up. Right now, Texas and FSU have big wins and favorable schedules the rest of the way. Texas could lose a close one to OU and probably still get in. FSU can make a second statement by beating Clemson. Figuring Michigan/OSU winner gets in. That leaves one slot. Tennessee, Alabama, LSU and Georgia will have to be 12-1 conference champs to get in with UGA having an advantage over other conferences as being the you-know-whats. Oregon, USC, Washington and Utah will be contenders.

SEC fatigue and the perception the conference is down has seriously damaged, if not elminated, the possibility of getting two teams in. All those who want other SEC teams to be bad, well you got your wish. We now look like the other conferences.

Right now, shaping up to be quite a fight for four spots.

I still think the schedule is about as favorable as it could be. Only Kentucky and Vandy get us after bye weeks. There could be a lot of injuries and fatigue for some of our opponents that we can exploit IF our offense can get going with some consistency.

We get...

Florida- definitely down right now as OP said

UTSA- with a questionable at best Frank Harris who was in a boot last night on the sideline with a toe injury

SCar- after consecutive weeks against UGa and Miss St.

A&M- after consecutive weeks against Auburn, Arkansas, and Alabama (we will be off a bye week)

Alabama- after consecutive weeks against Ole Miss, Miss St, A&M, and Arkansas (we will be off bye week and A&M).

Kentucky- after consecutive games against Florida, Georgia, and Missouri. They do get a bye week before UT at their place.

Missouri- after a trip to Georgia

Georgia- after consecutive weeks against Florida, Missouri, and Ole Miss.

Vandy- off a bye week but that doesn't seem to be concerning most likely.

Also didn't mention UConn because.... UConn.
