Anyone else think the defense wasn't as physical against Georgia?

Everyone keeps talking about the lack of pressure on Beck (which was very frustrating), but the biggest thing I noticed was how our defense just wasn't as physical across the board as they have been in the rest of the games this season.
If you look back at all the games except Arkansas we've pretty much been the most physical team on the field in all of our games. But it seems the defense left that killer instinct in Knoxville. I didn't see any big hits by our defense. It's frustrating because I honestly think if our defense had shown up we would have won that game.

Let’s give georgias o line some credit for keeping him clean and beck was reading the blitz whenever we rushed more than four. They adjusted and played well after ole miss smacked them around and we weren’t ready to match their effort.
Right. None of that explains why our defense wasn't physical at tackling in general. I didn't really see any nasty hits by our defense throughout the whole game. What I'm saying is the defense wasn't playing like the college football playoff was on the line.

The defense had a terrible game. The worst game of the year. It happens. Remember even the most elite of defenses have slip ups. I wonder if the defense is getting worn out because of the offense. This time of year almost everyone is a little banged up in some way. This offense has to find a way to score more points against teams that matter.

Georgia brought their best last Saturday night in Athens. Their offense & defense 'clicked' for the 1st time this season. Vols just happened to be in the way. While Tennessee is building the talent level, the dawgs have been doing it for a long time.

I wouldn’t say for the first time…after their first two series their offense played like they did in the second half against Bama and they are are a hard team to beat when they play their A game.

i know it’s unpopular to say but they are a better team. For us to beat them we needed to play our best but we also needed them to make mistakes. If both teams played their A game Georgia wins IMO. Their talent and depth is superior.

Why does it always seem to be us that this happens with?

We were out talented along with a passive game plan.

We are good against teams that are weaker than us. We went in with a passive game plan and that
naturally seeps down into the emotional mind set of the players. Play not to lose rather than pin
your ears back and attack with blitzes coming from everywhere.

Every team with a good coaching staff knows our weaknesses by now, linebackers can't cover the tight ends
and the backfield flares. Tim Banks was totally manhandled in this one. The Florida curse has shifted over
to the Dawgs.

Dline is the strength of this defense. When they don't get pressure it exposes a vunerable linebacking core and secondary. The gameplans the last few games seem to be keep everything in front of them. I don't know what has changed but we're not attacking on defense like we were. Back to the read and react stuff and we've been slow at reacting. They're missing Pili more than i thought they would.

An that's going to be a problem against Vanderbilt. They attack the middle of the field pretty well.

No. I think they were physical. The problem was not willing to make the calls that would get Georgia out of rhythm and put pressure on the QB. They have to find a way to cover up a couple of weak spots which makes it more difficult to be too aggressive.

Not sure what changed or if Kirby adjusted, but early in the game we played UGA WRs tight. Beck clearly had instructions to get the ball out quick, not allowing time for pressure. Later in the game it seemed they confused us and receivers were seemingly open all day for 7 yard receptions. UGA executed their game plan and adjusted, and we didn’t.

IMO Hype is trying to protect Nico with this passive game planning. We have seen now that Hype is very protective of his QB's. Its been frustrating for me to watch basically the same game plan every week. I know he tweeks it some for each game but still looks the same. You have to make big plays to beat GA. You don't beat them trying to make 75 yd 12 play drives. OK got that off my chest now, move on.

Coaching. Banks got schooled. I'm tired of hearing all the pro Banks jargon.

Agreed. But I’d still like to see them on a neutral field in a few weeks.
