Anyone else think the defense wasn't as physical against Georgia?

Georgia has the best interior line in football when healthy. Kirby said that was the healthiest they had been in a while. In my opinion we needed to mix it more, should have tried some blitzes from where it wasn’t expected. It seemed like we stayed in base 4 man front the majority of the time. That works against most but certainly not Georgia on the road.

Know why they weren't physical? Georgia had a great game plan and exploited our weaknesses and stayed away from our best players. Georgia definitely had the talent advantage in certain areas. They capitalized on that, which made our defense...not look like our defense.

I'm still in shock we had ZERO sacks. It looked like Beck had time to check down all his receivers twice before throwing the ball. Where was our NFL edge rusher? The whole game was disappointing after the first quarter.

One major adjustment one of the UGA beat writers highlighted was that the O-line widened their splits significantly to make the wide 9 speed rush even further away. Those edge rushers had to run the hoop from a longer distance which gave Beck more time.

Everyone keeps talking about the lack of pressure on Beck (which was very frustrating), but the biggest thing I noticed was how our defense just wasn't as physical across the board as they have been in the rest of the games this season.
If you look back at all the games except Arkansas we've pretty much been the most physical team on the field in all of our games. But it seems the defense left that killer instinct in Knoxville. I didn't see any big hits by our defense. It's frustrating because I honestly think if our defense had shown up we would have won that game.
story came out today that Georgia OL knew what our DL was going to do before the snap. Apparently they tip what kind of rush it will be by the way they place their feet. Someone from Georgia was paying attention in the film room. Someone from Tennessee was not

The defense had a terrible game. The worst game of the year. It happens. Remember even the most elite of defenses have slip ups. I wonder if the defense is getting worn out because of the offense. This time of year almost everyone is a little banged up in some way. This offense has to find a way to score more points against teams that matter.
Agree with this

Beck had a clean uniform all night. It's no secret he quickly becomes ineffective when he's pressured. We could not get to him. Whether it was scheme or getting whooped makes no difference, the result was the same.

No. I think they were physical. The problem was not willing to make the calls that would get Georgia out of rhythm and put pressure on the QB. They have to find a way to cover up a couple of weak spots which makes it more difficult to be too aggressive.
Yep, we blitzed 3 times the entire game. Everyone of those 3 plays ended up as incomplete passes or for negative. Not sure why Banks didn’t blitz more, Georgia blitzed us all night.

Yeah I don’t buy that their OL just magically became great. That was pitiful effort by Banks and co.

We need to play them earlier in the year. They’ve already played their ugly games and figured it out by the time they get to us.
Yep. I said this years ago when we made the schedule switch. We basically swapped with Auburn's place on their schedule and they had owned Auburn in that slot for 20 years. By mid-November they have usually jelled and their greater depth gives them a heightened advantage.

The passive play calls produce passive efforts. The best defenses attack and force the offense to have to make plays; the worst defenses sit back and try to prevent the plays that are happening.
This^ Xs 1000!!!

Passive play calls are the enemy of one’s aggressive/competitive nature.
Expresses WEAKNESS……..
