Anyone else tired of Christmas?

Lost my grandfather on Dec 28th last year. He was in the hospital with pneumonia in Christmas. We always went down to their house as a family and had christmas eve and ate and opened gifts. Now that hes gone its just really sad.

I know there's a lot of people on VN around my age (25). If you are spending Christmas with your grandparents please cherish it. You simply don't know if they will be there next year and it will never be the same without them.

I lost both grandpas recently - one this summer and one a couple years ago. I almost made it through today without losing it, almost. Last night was a different story. I putyself in bed around 9 and spent the time almost in mourning.

Be the driving force for normalcy. Whether it's keeping old traditions (which we've done) or starting new ones in his honor. Both of My papaws loved seeing us altogether more than anything so that's what we hold to, even through the grief. I'd bet that's what yours would want too. Prayers for you.

Finally got my dad to go to sleep so I could install his new computer. They don't live in Tennessee anymore, so the first thing he does in the mornings is gets up and reads the Johnson City Press online (technically, it's the third thing. 1. Devotional, 2. Potty, 3. JC Press online, but you get the idea). He was using the old desktop I had in grad school from 2006. My only worry is teaching him Windows 8. That old computer was on its last bits of life support. Knowing how happy he'll be to have a new computer makes everything else commercial worth it. Kids go to sleep way easier than fathers do.

Plus, unto us a child is born and he shall be called Emmanuel. I can't not like this thing called Christmas.

I enjoy every second of this season from Christs birth to boiled custard and Christmas cookies. There is something special about walking into a store and seeing all the fast fast motion and stressed out people but once they hear me whistling every Christmas carol there is......it puts a smile on their face. People need to be reminded of what it is about often or the meaning (Christ's birth) and the kids magic (of Santa) turns into sour attitudes.

With that said, I can understand why it is very stressful and hard on certain people.

This has been one of the least stressful Christmases in a while. IDK, maybe the wife and I finally managed our time efficiently for a change.

This was also the first year my 3 year old was really anticipating Santa Clause. I've been watching him and his under 2 year old brother play all morning. It's been great.
