Depends on location and time you choose to drive. You can be smart about it and make some decent money. However, you need to figure wear and tear on your vehicle and most insurance carriers will jack up your auto insurance premiums.

The mother of a lady I work with drives for Uber and Lift here in Vegas, drives 5 days a week and is making about $300-$400 a day. Of course it's very busy here but she loves it. I use uber a lot and it's so much cheaper than a taxi. Taxi commission here is not very happy about ot

I use it often, and may elect to do so again tonight. They never judge me when I hop in piss drunk wearing women's clothing. Saves me a drunk bike ride home from whatever drunk run I just did.

Oh the two taxi companies here are loosing their **** over Uber now being here. Maybe if the taxi companies had more than 4 cars on the road in the city, there might not be a need for uber.

Used it in and it was an absolute pleasure. Pigeon forge needs to exit the game. Apparently there are only like 2 drivers.

So basically you have to have full coverage, including collision, and pretty decent medical payouts in your insurance policy before you can drive for Uber.

I'd advise anyone thinking about doing this to talk to their insurance agent and read their policy. There's a really good chance that your insurance policy expressly excludes coverage for your vehicle while being used in the course of business. I'd make sure that Uber itself would had some sort of provision taking care of that.

I used it in Asheville a few months ago. I agree. It's a great concept. You always know where the cars are, who is picking you up, how much it costs... and no money changed hands. It's a beautiful thing.

Yes, Uber will only cover 1M in liability. Collision and comprehensive are on you and your personal insurance provider. You can try and hide it from your insurance provider and might get away with it without having to pay high premiums, but get into an accident while driving for Uber and the insurance company will not pay.

You can also split the fare between multiple riders using the app. Or send someone you know a fare fee with the app......like one of your broke drunk friends (It's already happened to me lol)

Half the cost of a taxi

Think that's everywhere, the cab agencies are buying politicians to come up with ways to shut them down.

I like Uber, it's convenient, quick, and competitively priced.

and doesn't smell like a week old dirty diaper full of indian food

Last time we went to the City was the longest 10 minute cab ride of my life, the taliban driving smelled like he had smeared himself with carrion then crapped his pants. 10° and I've got the damn windows open.

Would make no economic sense to undermine their contractors. The people that put the money in their company.

I don't know all the legalities behind the insurance side of it but I'd be really, really surprised if the drivers insurer didn't know what the driver is using their insured vehicle for.

Why would they know you sent a copy of your insurance over an email to a private company? I did it for about 9 months but stopped when the money dropped off.

Not your insurance company. Uber. I would not be surprised if Uber notified them. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'm not arguing whatsoever. I have not driven for them.
