Anyone in ND working on Bakken Shale?

I've given this tons of thought. How easy is it to get on? Or is it a long process?

I was already working for a drilling company that was drilling in ND.

From what I understand you can just walk around Williaton, ND and get a job making 18+ an hour with a guarantee of 80-100 hours a week. Like I've said before, make sure you have housing set up.

I knew someone who got me in the business on the Utica Shale(Eastern,OH/Western PA) which is my "home rig". I'm doing this 4 months to help out and bank some money. I'm paid a per diem at home that's higher and untaxable that pays all my bills in Toledo, OH and I work a rotating shift of 2 weeks on/2 weeks off(Working 90-100 hours a week). Up here I'll be working 110-120 for the next 4 months straight but I'm being almost double what I do in the Utica.

On the Utica I bring home about 2500 a week, up here it'll be about 4k a week and all my housing and food is covered.

One perk with the oil companies is the Insurance as well, my benefits are fully covered by company. I essentially have zero bills that I pay out of my actual paycheck. It's HARD work and mentally draining working all those hours. Even though I only work 2 weeks a month, I'm working more than the average person does in 2 months during that 2 weeks.

That's real big money for where they are at. I personally know guys up there bring home 2200-2500 a week ( after taxes)

Most the guys I know, pulled a big travel trailer up there for them to live in.

I am definitely going to pass this info along to some of my <35 family members.

What kind of requirements does one need to get hired?

I'm not who you asked but my buddy's on my end just drive a truck.

On the rig is different. Can be high stress at times. I know guys that do that for schlumberger. And it can be dangerous.

I have a degree in Sales/Marketing but my brother from another mother(Best friend since Middle School) was the one who got me in, so typically if you know someone you don't need any.

Up here in ND, ZERO experience. Be able to pass a drug test pretty much and be in decent shape. Once you get the experience here, you can go then move on to something like I have set up on the Utica Shale(Eastern, OH/Western,PA) The eagle Ford Shale in Texas is prob where I would go if my little ones weren't in Ohio.

The per diem I make back home is paid to me 365 days a year whether I'm working on the rig or not so between that and my paycheck I'm making about 90k for 7 months of work. That's what you want to strive to get, it's untaxable.

Thank you sir. I thought some of the general labor jobs would just require being drug free and having a strong back.

That's some good $$. If I didn't have a wife and kid, I'd consider it
