Anyone know what’s up with Jack Luttrell and his NIL?

Outkick has a story out about the freshman tweeting (then deleting) something to the tune of “What good is a collective if no one gets paid?” Maybe one of our VolNation members may shed some insight on this one. This doesn’t look good on the surface.

Tennessee Freshman Posts Cryptic Instagram Story Raising Concerns About NIL Collectives
You're right. On the surface, it looks like off-season clickbait.

That article implies a lot ... from what they admit to be one cryptic tweet from a lightly recruited 3 star safety, which was then immediately deleted.

Outkick looks desperate for discussion content. They are looking for attention from Tennessee fans.

I agree that we should not know how much an individual athlete is getting from an NIL but I believe a collective should be upfront with how much they are taking in as donations and sales, their operating expenses, total expenditures in salary to collective employees, and how much they are paying out in total NIL deals. Otherwise it all sounds very shady to me.

Two scenarios:
1. Our collective is bs and a sham.
2. We have a 3 star, middling talented dude expecting more than he can reasonably get (read Vic Wharton)
This.

We do know one thing, they all sign contracts. So if he fulfilled his obligations then didn’t get paid, he can sue for breach of contract. Otherwise it’s an immature kid and click-baiting rag trying to get some much needed attention from a sect of the fanbase who ADORE rabble-rousing online.

Jack is really popular in the social media world. Won't see the field much in the SEC. not a knock on the kid. But, I think he is used to just saying stuff outloud, and I think the coaches just told him to hush. He won't see big money at UT, and I'm not sure he understands why, even though everybody else does. Now, if he begins to prove us wrong...then we're all for that.

Dude is a 3 star Freshman who hasn't played a down and wonders why he isn't getting paid
This is the PERFECT snapshot of EXACTLY why everyone with a brainstem thinks this younger generation; along with the USA, is seriously F@#$d! I'm depressed that my generation didn't do a good enough job raising em better.

The system has worked against doing a good enough job.

Keeping Luttrell would be wise as he played at Colquitt Co High School (Moultrie, GA) that's a hotbed for D1 football recruits. Gotta keep the pipeline open. He's just got to be patient and earn playing time.

I would like for him to ultimately be a good contributor because it helps UT but has this pipeline stuff really ever worked with out of state kids?

How much could his NIL be worth? Pay him his $5 every week.

Not the brightest move by this young man. Hopefully he can get smarter fast.

Sadly this NIL stuff will continue to be an out of control animal. I dread it will get worse. It has and will impact recruiting and roster retention. Many will be mercenary type players like UK basketball. Give it a few more years and it will run its course with fans. The genie is out of the bottle though.

Turning off the faucet to Georgia powerhouses such as Colquitt Co, Buford, Cartersville, Warner Robins, Valdosta is not wise. Coach Rodney Garner has deep long- time contacts with all these GA schools that will reap benefits in the future. It's hard to compete with UGA right now as they are back to back National champions so of course kids want to go there. Ultimately with all the personnel issues such as drinking/ racing and a couple losses the tide will turn.

Sad to see that Luttrell is disappointed with his NIL so far. He was a tremendous recruiter for us last class and I would hate if he left. It’s a bad look if our collectives are not following-through with all they promise, even for the lower-ranked recruits. That said, I hope he is patient and waits for his opportunity to contribute and also reap the benefits of that.

Whether or not Luttrell stays on the team long-term or not it will not turn off the faucet to Colquitt Co but I find any discussion about this premature over a single tweet.

This is the type of conversation we get when it takes a month for a thread to move to page two during the summer.

I'm 31 so I could technically be associated with the younger generation but I get what you mean to an extent lol
