I was a student back then and was at the game. Wasn't this the game that Notre Dame fielded a kickoff and immediately stepped out of bounds around the 5 yard line? The crowd went wild with laughter.
I think that was Vagas Ferguson that did that. I had a blast that game.

I was at the game....

Me too .. . I was 14 and my uncle, who was a Catholic and thus a HUGE Notre Dame fan, took me and a friend to see "Tennessee get its tail kicked" as he put it...

not sure what the score was early but Tennessee was dominating and kicking their a$$ and my uncle wanted to leave, but his wife made him stay and we had a blast

good memories

This was the first game I ever attended for which I had to buy tickets from a scalper. I think I paid $80 for a pair---that was quite a bit of $ back then. Good seats, section C. It was a much anticipated game and the blowout was unexpected. It was one of those games where a few scenes from it are 'burned' into your memory--one of mine is seeing those gold helmets when N.D. first came on the field. Very striking!

More than once as I recall. Kicked it deep to the corner and the return man caught it like he was catching a pass and trying to get his feet down. I was a student then also and was at the game. Terrific memories.
