I hate to say it, but I'm a little worried about our running game going into the Florida game. Besides the spectacular run by Hardesty against Cal, our runningbacks haven't been busting long runs. You'd think we would run all over a team like Air Force.

To beat Florida, our runningbacks and the run blocking are going to have to improve drastically. I'm especially worried if Arian Foster won't be 100% by Saturday.

In a blowout win against California and poor defense like Air Force, we still have yet to have a 100-yard rusher.

Is anyone else worried about this?

I am not too worried. Our backs have been pretty solid, and this will be the best defense they have faced thus far. As far as breaking the long runs, those are great. But slow and steady wins the race. Pick up those four and five yard gains and set up play actions and we will be just fine.

More than anything, Im worried about the resiliancy of our running game. I still have the feeling after preseason practice that hardesty is one bad cut away from being out. He cant be a workhorse just yet. Foster is also a questionable injurywise. We are deep at RB, but I dont think that we are overcrowded at this point. The o-line has had great pass protection which is fine by me, because as long as Ainge is doing his thing, the running game just needs to keep us out of long situations.

I think with our big back (Foster) out or questionable for the UF game you may see Cory Anderson more in the one back offense. Cut hasn't used him much yet and I think Cory is due for a breakout game.

Although it is true we havent had a 100 yard rusher, I blame that mostly on the fact that we are switching out 3 different backs.

i have a man crush on hardesty but last nite just about everytime he touched the ball he did a spin move, he ran hard n ran 100000 yards east to west, if he could run a little bit more north to south then he'd b awesome, but that will come with time, he will be fine, this year could be a good year for us, but think about next yr wow

I think Erik Ainge is worried about our running game. He commented after the Air Force game that we have to run the ball better against the Gators.

Or we could rotate the Stadium 90 degrees!:)

It's weird . . . We're not getting very many running plays completely blown up behind the line, but we sure do seem to be getting a lot of 2 yard gains.

haha, yes ainge has played good this year, he just needs to worry bout himself gettin better. he does lead D1 football in qb rating, so he needs to just keep doin what he's doin n let the coaches worry bout gettin the running game in place. don't forget we ran for over 200 against Cal

Watching the AF game, we didn't seem to be full speed out of the backfield. I was in a bar with about five different games going and our backs didn't seem to be as aggressive and fast as some for the other teams I was watching. It may have been the beer though.

Remember, we had to replace some people on our O-line, and I think they will get better with each game...

We have certainly emphasized the passing game, so the running game hasn't been overly utilized, but I think it will come along...

I'm way more worried about our ability to generate pressure on Leak with our down linemen now that Harrell is out.

When a game like the Florida game is upon us, I worry about everything.

When did Ainge become the coach? He's getting good but not that good.
Concentrate on throwing the ball son, it will be OK.

I am thinking, mostly hoping, with fla's inexperienced o-line and the crowd noise, they will have multiple false starts and play behind the chains most of the night.

If youve been watching the games, you would see we are a passing team this year. We seem to use the run to keep teams honest.

Yes everyone gets excited/nervous for florida, but remember how many of us would be happy to win 8 or 9 games this year, and now it seems like we r expectin to win the east and win the dang sec championship. Like i said either in this thread or another thread, u think we look good now? just think about nxt year.

I think that the speed of Coker would have been a game changer in the AF. game sorry to see he did not play.

like someone else said, we aren't blowing people off the line of scrimmage, but we aren't getting stopped behind the line of scrimmage either. we had over 200 yards rushing against cal. there were so many 4 and 5 yard runs and then the one big run. against air force, we obviously had to throw it more because it was so easy and i think the coaches knew they had to. florida's secondary is comparable to Cal's at most. we might not need to run. haha

i think the way Hardesty has been running has been a positive...he really runs well..and sees the feild well, and has no problem in running over someone.

i wouuld like to see a 4+ypc average, but at the end of the day, the way we've been playing all we have to do is run the ball enough to make play action work...plus the offensivle line seems more adept at pass blocking than run blocking, which has more to do with the backs than anything.

UF's d though should be able to stop the run pretty well, i look for some underneath stuff early on to slow the LB's down and maybe get the D line to back off....RB screens etc....that can be as effective as the run, especially when we are in obvious passing situations on 2nd and long and 3rd and long where UF may want to blitz...it'll be interesting that's for sure.

The big difference against Air Force is that there were not as many rushing opportunities. Air Force was stacking the line, while Ainge was making them pay to the tune of 24-of-29 for 333 yards and 3 TDs. A near flawless game except the final pass attempt that was intercepted. Realize that 2 of Ainge's passes were dropped and 2 were thrown away on purpose to avoid a sack. Air Force gambled on defense and UT made them pay for most of the game. If not for the defensive problems and not playing assigment football against the AF flexbone, this game would have been a blowout.
