Anyone worried about the RUNNING GAME?

I think with our big back (Foster) out or questionable for the UF game you may see Cory Anderson more in the one back offense. Cut hasn't used him much yet and I think Cory is due for a breakout game.
Why this huge FB isn't kicking DE's out like a big dog on trap plays to turn Foster/Hardesty loose is amazing to me. He outta be blowing defensive players up on traps and counters.

Corey hasn't impressed anyone yet...if he were to have a big game, this week would be a good one to have it.

I for one am not impressed with the running game yet. I like Hardersty, but the needs to get North and South more. I really thought Coker looked quick in the Cal game, I would like to have seen him in the AF game. Also, would like to see him get in a passing route up against a linebacker, that would be a great mismatch if he has any hands.

Yes. I am concerened that, due to a very fast and talented defense, that there will be little to no run game established this game. The only hope is that the QB and the passing game can bail them out. It sucks for UF fans that that QB is Chris Leak!!!

GO VOLS

You can bet that Cut has a bunch of new plays for Florida. You will see everything our offense has to offer this Sat.

Our coaches need to tell our RB's that they don't need to do all this hurky jerky crap running east and west, trying to make more out of something. Instead, hit the whole and get what you can. I saw Monterio make so many cutbacks and moves during a run, he tripped himself up:birgits_giggle:

I noticed that too...but he ran hard and kept his legs moving....he runs with an attitude...reminds me a little of Jamal Lewis...he runs upright and has good leg drive.

but i don't mind the cuts...if he keeps his feet on two of them, they are big gainers...

Anyone?

You know what eases the worries? A 17-7 lead on Florida in midway through the 3rd quarter! GO VOLS!

I wasn't worried about the running game going into the Florida game. That's obviously changed now. Run blocking is going to be a big focus on the coaching staff preparing for the GA game.

I am not too worried. Our backs have been pretty solid, and this will be the best defense they have faced thus far. As far as breaking the long runs, those are great. But slow and steady wins the race. Pick up those four and five yard gains and set up play actions and we will be just fine.

Boy, I was WAY OFF. I would give up a rib for a rushing first down after seeing our running game vanish into thin air last night.

Today, "worried about our running game" doesn't even come close to describing how I feel about it

I hate to say it, but I'm a little worried about our running game going into the Florida game. Besides the spectacular run by Hardesty against Cal, our runningbacks haven't been busting long runs. You'd think we would run all over a team like Air Force.

To beat Florida, our runningbacks and the run blocking are going to have to improve drastically. I'm especially worried if Arian Foster won't be 100% by Saturday.

In a blowout win against California and poor defense like Air Force, we still have yet to have a 100-yard rusher.

Is anyone else worried about this?

there is reason to worry when we will face alabama, georgia and lsu which all are suppose to have better rushing defenses than florida.

On the positive side the Vols will now get back-to-back, glorified scrimmages to try and reform the O line before resuming conference play. Hopefully, that will give Arian time to heal and give some of the less experienced players an oppotunity to work the kinks out of their games.

Amen to that... UT has some work to do over the next couple of weeks.

If you think Tommy West and Memphis will lay down and roll over against us you are crazy. That game will be a struggle just like Air Force was.

And what is the only school in the State to go to a bowl game the last three years.....Memphis.

With an NFL running back.

Not very good this year. They lost to Mississippi (who then lost to Missouri and Kentucky) and East Carolina (who lost to Navy and UAB).

There is no reason why we shouldn't beat them easily.

Yes. I mean no disrespect to the Memphis Tigers but having watched their game with Ole Miss and read the box scores on their other two games they are not where they were last year. They will fight like ...well...like mad tigers, but IMO they will fold like a cheap suit in the second half and get steamrolled. The Thundering Herd should be a cakewalk compared to the past 3 weeks.
