Last we heard, TV said we’d see him (and Halvorsen) by the end of March. He obviously won’t pitch this weekend, but I wonder if there is any news of progress since then.

I’m guessing his first appearance will be in a midweek game for an inning or two. Probably the same for Halvorsen.

He is throwing from the mound, and should get some action next weekend in Oxford, according to the VQ guys.

Supposedly according to Tony V, he is a week or so ahead of Halvorsen.

When Blade comes back full speed where do you see him falling in? If you have three weekend guys who are undefeated does he take one of their spots and which one?
It’s early and I want to see what Beam does tomorrow….. but as the competition gets better, Dollander’s ability to hold runners and go deep into games becomes a disadvantage. He goes to relief and shines in that role.

Will be interesting and let me preface my prediction with the longer he’s out, the less likely this becomes reality…

I think Blade slots back in on Fridays. Burns shifts back a day and Dollander Sunday. Beam is great, but having middle relief that can go 3-4 innings like Sewell is a great asset. Plus he’s a freshman. Halvorsen back too in the back half of the pen. Boy I’m lickin my chops…

Wouldn’t be a bad option either, but he’s got all-american talent. Gotta start that kind if talent imo

I would recommend putting about all your faith into what we have going on. Blade won't be back anytime soon. He is hurt, he's only thrown a couple bullpens and it's a slow process. Plus, there is no way Coach V is going to jeopardize Blade's draft stock by getting him out there too early. As for Halvorsen, he's hurt too and there's no rushing him back. It's a slow process.

Yeah it sucks to lose them, but our pitching is deep. We have a lot of options right now. Maybe...maybe we get those guys back for an inning or two in May. But between now and then it's forging ahead without them.

Shoulders are really tricky mechanisms. He might not fully recover at all this season. But, If all goes well with Blade's full recovery, which , if it happens, is likely going to take place after a month of treating him gingerly. So I think he takes the top of the rotation slot in early May at earliest, in time for the finish to the season and Hoover/regionals. That gives us Tidwell/Burns/Dollander with Halvorsen and Beam for depth. That's five genuine quality starters, which would put us in the catbird seat at Hoover.

If Preacherman is suggesting a hypothetical with a healthy Tidwell, I’m betting there’s a chance that Blade is healthy.

Great question. Hard to bump Burns off the Friday spot. I think Tidwell, fully healthy, is the Saturday guy, then it’s between Dollander and Beam for Sunday.

I know Dolly has an issue but his stuff is Elite. Be hard to keep him out of the rotation. I like Burns on. Friday night and DRew on Sunday’s. I think having Tidwell back this year moves him to the Camden Sewell role on Sunday behind Beam….
Burns , Sewell , Kirby
Dolly, Mabry , Mark and Red
Beam, Tidwell and Joyce
and if Havy comes back , plug him in anywhere…
Tournament time … Tiddy moves up to Starter Role or Sewell.
Great staff. Unbelievable really

One other thing to consider , pitch count buuilt up, all 3 starters are building their numbers up , TV ans FA won’t just throw that away. They have a plan and they will stick to their guns.

Late to this thread, but Dollander has got to figure out a solution to his problem of holding runners. We haven't played any close games yet, so it hasn't really hurt us, but against the schedule coming up, that's going to be exposed big time and can be the difference in a game vs. Ole Miss, Vandy, etc. I'm not sure what the quick solution is. Typically a tall task, especially midseason, to have a guy changing up his timing and being quicker to the plate. I'm very intrigued to see how this develops because, as of now, any runner with half decent speed is standing on 2nd as soon as he gets to 1st.

The same concern also crossed my mind as I thought about our upcoming games. Both Bianco and Corbin will find a way to exploit this tendency. It’s definitely something to watch for Saturday. Our guys will need to adjust and overcome.

100%. And it's not just about guys getting to 2nd base on him. Mentally, Dollander hasn't had many stressful innings so far. He hasn't been pitching in tight games. That will take a toll on him. I can't tell you how hard it would be to pitch in a tight game, knowing that if you walk a guy, he's almost instantly at 2nd. Could be something to watch for. I'm concerned about his ability to be a Saturday starter throughout this season until he can get a handle on this issue. But that's easier said than done.

I think we’ll learn more out more about our entire pitching staff this weekend. Overall, I don’t think we’ve faced many stressful innings with the exception of Texas, Baylor (perhaps), and the first James Madison midweek game. We’ve pretty much had the lead or easily been close.

On the other hand, I think Ole Miss will also learn more about its pitching staff this weekend.
After listening to a few Ole Miss centric podcasts, I get the sense that they are still trying to figure out their weekend pitching rotation and bullpen. They have many young guys in their bullpen, and their staff hasn’t faced an offense like ours until now.

I’ve read that this weekend is a new pitching rotation.
