Anything new on Tidwell?

I think our pitching makes this series advantage Vols.

Looking forward to finding out just how good we really are.

Very much looking forward to seeing our pitching vs. their hitters and vice versa. Second time this year we’ve played the #1 team. Let’s see what we got!

ERA is like batting average in the sense that it doesn't tell you a lot about how good a pitcher/batter is.....but, if that post about the rotation is true, Gaddis is the only guy there based on IP and ERA that I'd be worried about. Feels like you're playing with house money on Friday. Lose the Friday game, no big deal as you then get two opportunities to feast on some mediocre pitching.

It will all shake out, not worried, other than the being on the road aspect.

Gaddis had a great outing against UCF but Auburn got after him (7H & 2BB and 4 across the plate in 3.2 innings). Dougherty didn’t pitch against UCF but gave up 7H, 2ER, 3BB in 5 IP. Those numbers don’t scare me.

When Blade comes back full speed where do you see him falling in? If you have three weekend guys who are undefeated does he take one of their spots and which one?
Baseball guys tend to be superstitious, right?
I don’t know that I mess with the weekend rotation at this point, until I know for sure Blade is ready and/or really needed.
Am I wrong in thinking this?
I know the guy is legit but...
GBO!!

Ready? I’d put that on the medical staff. Really needed? Pfft. CFA and CTV got that covered.

Personally, I think he becomes a true closer and the rest to the staff will be the set up guys due to everything that has to be considered, such as … rotation being set, Blades future , and honestly the best for UT. I mean you get to the 8th and 9th innings of most games with a lead , I like my chances. And games you have a lead in , you rest him. Just give him the work he needs to stay sharp. His Stuff is just to good , I think the scouts seen enough last year tor him to be a first rounder….. Use him to Shut the Door! Chime the fat ladies vocal chords lol

Initially, I think Blade would just be used for an inning or 2 from the bullpen. CTV and CFA will bring him back gradually to ensure that shoulder is good to go.

AH, going for the ole SMOLTZ plan huh? Might be a good place to start and see where it goes from there. Some guys have reliever rubber arms and some need the days rest. Not a clue where he falls in that spectrum.

Seems like he has the intense mentality of a closer.

Late to this thread, but Dollander has got to figure out a solution to his problem of holding runners. We haven't played any close games yet, so it hasn't really hurt us, but against the schedule coming up, that's going to be exposed big time and can be the difference in a game vs. Ole Miss, Vandy, etc. I'm not sure what the quick solution is. Typically a tall task, especially midseason, to have a guy changing up his timing and being quicker to the plate. I'm very intrigued to see how this develops because, as of now, any runner with half decent speed is standing on 2nd as soon as he gets to 1st.

yea , he’s slow to the plate and his pick off is terrible too . But he’s got elite stuff. Makes me scratch my head at times. Interested to see how he does Saturday
