What's up your ass? I never verbally abuse them nor do I "spit" on them. I shake my head and move on. Disgracing others? I dont think they asked for your protection and I think they are asking for it when they put that stuff on. I think you need some thinker skin.
smart skin? whats the skin of a thinker look like? :)

I'm a vol fan in KY. I wear the orange all the time and am often derided for it. Props to the kid for loving his team in a hostile environment.

Exactly.

The only thing I can add, is that you can't cry foul when you catch hell for doing it. You gotta accept the consequences like a man.

I go to WVU and wear UT stuff quite a bit. I always get stuff yelled at me, and then remind them that they root for a 2nd-3rd tier program.

As you read this, I have a nephew at Auburn, a cousin at Baylor and another cousin at Ohio State, they all wear orange on campus.

I would hope most people would choose schools based on something more substantial than their favorite athletic team. Like offering a good degree in the program you're studying..or 1,000 other better reasons. I love the Vols, and will never root for any other team nearly as hard - but I will probably never step foot in a UT classroom. JMO.

Interesting to have nephews and cousins in college at the same time. Obviously I believe you I'm just trying to think how that might be......care to elaborate?

So your sister and you are more than a decade apart I'm guessing? Gotcha! Not sure why I was so interested lol.

I got lucky. Tennessee has a top-notch business school, and I've been a lifelong Vol. I've always wanted to come here, and I've always wanted to be a business major.

Win-win.

Even if you've grown up all your life being a fan of another?

I think you just miss out on some of the fun stuff about being in college if you stick with the team of your childhood over the school you end up going to. If my kids end up going to UGA -- unfortunately not unlikely, given the HOPE scholarship situation, then I will take them out to dinner and give them my blessing to root for the leghumpers all the way. Even almost 20 years later, rooting for the Vols is a lot more meaningful to me than just cheering for a sports team, because it's my alma mater. I would hate for my kids to cheat themselves out of that because they just blindly stuck with their old man's team.

To answer to the question, there are worse things, like wearing UF, BAMA, UGA and or Jorts (unless your are a hot female) on UT's campus....hahaha

I go to MTSU... Obviously not a powerhouse sports wise but we are pretty passionate. I attended the MTSU/UT Basketball game in Nashville last December. Free floor seats in the student section, by far the best seats I have ever had.... However I grew up in Maryville and have been a life long Vol so there's no way I'm wearing blue this game. I wasn't the only one wearing orange in our section but there were only a few of us and I was the closest to the front. I took crap from everyone all game. From the heckling to the popcorn being thrown at me... even my own girlfriend turned on me hahaha but it was worth it, and I even got to stay while WKU beat Vandy

in high school my school was in tennessee but alot of kids ailways say im a tennessee fan in football and kentucky fan in basketball ,that was in the 80s when vols basketball was almost always was subpar so id say you just pulling for a winner and not a loser ,and i nearly got kicked out because i would go over and rip the big blue shirts off,but the princepal was from ky and his wife was princepal at bell county high in ky ,my dad was born in ky and him and the high school princepal tried to turn me from orange to blue fromtime i was 11,when i played jv i had to stay after school and we were in the gym and he said ut up 91 to 90 then he steped up to the line and he hit both then i steped out of bounds and pitched it in bounds and threw it from baseline and i yelled tennesee wins ut wins on a 88 foot sling swish
