AP Poll Released- Cal-9 Vols-23

West Virginia was a top 5 team just a couple of years ago, but they disappointed big time. I think this year's team is better, but they could easily screw it up again. South Florida or Louisville might be able to trip them up. There will be some controversy if a team like LSU or Auburn finishes with 1 loss and don't get a spot in the BCS championship, but an undefeated WV team does. The Big East is going to have to take some steps to gain more credibility or else their teams will always be considered as the beneficiaries of soft schedules.

I have WVU losing to Louisville, and penciled in a loss to Pitt. Pitt will rebound in 2006.

I don't have a lot of confidence in Dave Wandstedtt. I guess if Tyler Palko returns to form they might be alright. I think WVU pulled a fast one on UGA last year, but that doesn't change the fact that they beat one of the best teams in the country last year and should really be a good team again this year. I don't think Pitt will rebound enough to take on a teeam like the Mountaineers.

Anyone remember the last time Ohio State was preseason #1?

1998.

Get ready for a great Big Orange season.

The thing that will hurt WVa this year is strength of schedule, but I am not sure that alone will keep them out of the BCSNCSG if they are the only undefeated team, or one of two undefeated teams, from a BCS conference.

It is ridiculous that the Big East is still a BCS conference. There should be a clause that allows the BCS membership committee to review a conference's continued participation every time a school joins or leaves a conference.

Not sure that the strength of schedule is in the new formula anymore for the BCS. I need to check that out. I like WVU but would like to see them play in a better con. I agree the Big East is a joke for football BCS con. I would like to see it go to another at large team.

We can't do much worse than we did last year. Last year we were ranked #3. This year we're 23. Just how much farther can we fall.
