Our ranking right now doesn't matter in the least bit. We could be ranked number one but if we can't win these it won't matter - Georgia, Florida, LSU, SECCG. Inversely, if we are unranked right now and we win those games, what we were ranked after week two won't matter either. I think we are making too big a deal about the early season rankings, and we always have (see last year).

11, 13, 23, whatever ... let's beat the Gators this weekend, and let the respective polls sort themselves out

The AP probably does have an influence on the coaches... especially since the coaches are probably no better informed about OOC schools they don't play than we are. All of their info will come from the media... some of whom vote in the AP poll.

Either way, the Coaches poll is just as ridiculous as the AP. They tend to get better as the season goes along but at this point, if there is going to be a poll, no one loss team should be ranked high.

Texas did not look good and no one really knows how good OSU is yet.

Sometimes I wonder...how much does ranking affect opposing coaches preparation for a ranked team. For instance, would UT coaches prepare harder for a non conference team like Michigan than they would for a team like.. say... Marshall? Or do they ignore rankings and take it for what it is, another game that needs winning.

I'd hope it would be the latter of the two, but I have a hard time believing any team would take Marshall with the exact same level of seriousness as Michigan.

I think we just need to give Air Force some credit....They had a heck of an offense....Also we need Cal to keep winning!!!
