I want to take a brief moment here to appreciate all the Vandy fans out there. These are dark times for Tennessee football, and so little lifts my spirits any more. But no other fanbase can make me smile so easily as you happy few, you band of brothers (and by "brothers" I just mean dudes, as you are not a particularly diverse fanbase).

Maybe it is the occasional awkward "Anchor Down" reference, or your unwarranted trash talk on any internet forum you can find, or just that perfectly timed retweet of something utterly nonsensical from Coach Franklin's Twitter, but it always makes me chuckle and I always feel better.

So I am here to pay you back and give Vandy football some props:

It really has been a nice run for you guys. What is it now, 3 winning seasons since 1976? Nothing to smirk at in the SEC. Big Kudos.

I think you have a good chance at another winning campaign this year. Here's how I see it playing out.

1) Don't sleep on Kentucky. +1
2) Lose at Neyland. (Sorry. I'm a homer.)
3) Beat an atrocious Wake Forest team. +1

4) BBVA Compass Bowl - lose to Cincy

That gets you to 7-6. Another incredible season.

However, even if you lose to Kentucky, you probably get the Liberty Bowl and beat a C-USA team.

So 7-6 anyway. Everything coming up roses.

And to think, you are only losing 13 starters to graduation next year! In 2 or 3 years, you may have another winning season, provided you can keep Coach Franklin anchored down.

I think everyone here on Volnation would agree that we are much impressed, and we cannot thank you enough for posting here.

Please use this thread to spread the general merriment. We are very interested in what fans of a successful football program might have to say. Our team is down right now as you know, and we will likely only finish 7-6 this year.

Therefore, we must live vicariously through you.

Respectfully,

Rifleman

All 12 fulltime Vandy fans like this thread

They do have quite a selective program. I'm sure every high school prospect in the land dreams about what it would be like to play at home in front of a carefully-vetted group of 40,550 on Saturdays.

They beat half of a Georgia team and half of a Florida team which equates to one halfway decent SEC team.

See now that's why they left you out 1/2 plus 1/2 equates to a whole

Literally ever Vandy twitter accounts that try to talk trash (i.e. @ianchordown) has almost no followers and it's almost sad how little attention they get-it's mostly from UT fans.

They only get 40,000 when the Vols come to town.

I honestly can't troll on Vandy...and I hate it because I love picking on Vandy. They beat two teams that we lost to. They are on track for a better year than us - even if we do have the harder schedule. I just hope we can beat them because I am growing to dislike Vanderbilt more than I ever have. When I heard a recruit say that Vandy is the only school where the coaches talk bad about other programs I really lost all respect for James Franklin and his Anchor Down BS. I hope we destroy those fools.

The BBVA Compass Bowl is actually below the Liberty Bowl in the pecking order, fwtw.

I think Vandy gets either the Music City Bowl or the Liberty Bowl if they beat Tennessee.
If the Vols get to 6-6, I think we get the Liberty Bowl, and whoever picks last between BBVA Compass and Independence will end up with Vandy.

I live in middle TN, and besides those living near John Hopkins in MD, unfortunately, if you are injured, Vanderbilt is where you want to be Life Flighted, one of the best hospitals in the South.

That being said, Franklin has coached vandy to a degree that he has and will get offers to coach elsewhere, whether he bites or not, we don't know.

That being said, if we lose to vandy and I am injured, I will request to be life flighted to the bunny ranch, where I can donate fluids and be pampered.

Vols would sell out the Music City Bowl. Ole Miss will sell out the Liberty Bowl. Tie that anchor on Candy's azz and send them down to Birmingham to make love to the bammers. It's only a short drive down I65 in the 2 limos that the Vandy crowd will fill.
