Appreciation for Vandy Fans!!!

I think Vandy gets either the Music City Bowl or the Liberty Bowl if they beat Tennessee.
If the Vols get to 6-6, I think we get the Liberty Bowl, and whoever picks last between BBVA Compass and Independence will end up with Vandy.

Highly doubtful they go to MCB. There would be no revenue for the city.

The BBVA Compass Bowl is actually below the Liberty Bowl in the pecking order, fwtw.

Thanks! Looking at this site I see that BBVA does have a lower pay out, though both are picking in the same range: SEC 8 or 9.

College Football Bowl Schedule

I thought the match up would be more attractive in the case of the BBVA and that would also be the only game on that day, but it will be a bowl game no matter which way it ends up.

I'd be happy to see the Vols in either. Obviously, a match up with Cincinnati would be interesting for us!

vandy is franklin's stepping stone job. :)

Does anyone think James Franklin is in Nashville next year?

Would he take a lateral move kind of job in order to escape the allegations surrounding the rape case?

Virginia would be a good job for him: similar situation, much better facilities, weaker conference.

Maryland if that comes open.

West Virginia and Illinois also.

I want to take a brief moment here to appreciate all the Vandy fans out there. These are dark times for Tennessee football, and so little lifts my spirits any more. But no other fanbase can make me smile so easily as you happy few, you band of brothers (and by "brothers" I just mean dudes, as you are not a particularly diverse fanbase).

Maybe it is the occasional awkward "Anchor Down" reference, or your unwarranted trash talk on any internet forum you can find, or just that perfectly timed retweet of something utterly nonsensical from Coach Franklin's Twitter, but it always makes me chuckle and I always feel better.

So I am here to pay you back and give Vandy football some props:

It really has been a nice run for you guys. What is it now, 3 winning seasons since 1976? Nothing to smirk at in the SEC. Big Kudos.

I think you have a good chance at another winning campaign this year. Here's how I see it playing out.

1) Don't sleep on Kentucky. +1
2) Lose at Neyland. (Sorry. I'm a homer.)
3) Beat an atrocious Wake Forest team. +1

4) BBVA Compass Bowl - lose to Cincy

That gets you to 7-6. Another incredible season.

However, even if you lose to Kentucky, you probably get the Liberty Bowl and beat a C-USA team.

So 7-6 anyway. Everything coming up roses.

And to think, you are only losing 13 starters to graduation next year! In 2 or 3 years, you may have another winning season, provided you can keep Coach Franklin anchored down.

I think everyone here on Volnation would agree that we are much impressed, and we cannot thank you enough for posting here.

Please use this thread to spread the general merriment. We are very interested in what fans of a successful football program might have to say. Our team is down right now as you know, and we will likely only finish 7-6 this year.

Therefore, we must live vicariously through you.

Respectfully,

Rifleman

The only Anchors down next sat will be the vol navy showing up to watch little brother get beat on.

I honestly can't troll on Vandy...and I hate it because I love picking on Vandy. They beat two teams that we lost to. They are on track for a better year than us - even if we do have the harder schedule. I just hope we can beat them because I am growing to dislike Vanderbilt more than I ever have. When I heard a recruit say that Vandy is the only school where the coaches talk bad about other programs I really lost all respect for James
Franklin and his Anchor Down BS. I hope we destroy those fools.

True, my pops does catering in Franklin/Brentwood area, James Franklin showed up at the bar, this off season in summer 2013. My pops is a huge Arky fan, born and raised there, has a huge dislike of UT ever since we beat them in 6OT in '02. He roots for any team that plays the Vols except LSU. Anyways, he got to talkin to Franklin, and my dad says the way he talks is so arrogant and cocky. My dad asked, "are you going to beat UT in Neyland this year?". Franklin responded, "Hell yeah, we are going to beat those losers and I hope that jackass Derek is still coaching."

Since then had, no respect for the Vanderbilt program and Franklin.

This:lolabove: Its hard to respect Vandy fans when someone as arrogant as Franklin, who takes Spurrier jabs to a whole nother level. A UT coach...even Dooley's dumbass would never was arrogantly disrecpectful to any program. Franklin is trying to get int he mix as a HC even if it means burning down other programs. Maybe he will still be coaching at sec level after the Rape Case trial is over and details come out.

For some reason I have a hard time believing this quote. Don't you think James Franklin knew Dooley was gone? After all he was fired right after the Vandy game....

Vandy Fans! Some more help for you! In addition to being able to bring your kids for free today . . .

If you have not done so already, you can purchase a scarf at VUMC gift shop and get two free tickets to today's game against Kentucky.

Plus, these are pretty stylish. Why don't we ever get great swag like this?!!! My UT ascot and smoking jacket are absolutely moth-eaten at this point!

P.S. This is also for a good cause. Many Vandy employees are not paid equitably and the money from this goes to support them. As we all know, Vandy is a poor, struggling institution with a limited endowment and low tuition prices. Therefore, it is quite difficult for VU to pay workers a living wage.

If I were a woman and had to spend my time near the Vandy football team, I think I'd try to bulk up too. No? Hopefully she has some martial arts skills as well.

Might grab some mace, maybe a taser while she's at it.
