Thought this movie was great. Didn't drag ass like other DC movies. Never thought I would enjoy watching a movie about Aquaman but it was good. In my opinion the best DC movie since the Bale Bateman series.

It’s already surpassed Justice League’s entire box office take. That is hilarious and sad.

If DC had done a couple more solo movies plus a true MoS sequel and skipped BvS, they would be in a much better spot to launch a JL movie. Now they are rudderless with no idea how they want to proceed.

As far as the Zack Snyder DC stuff has gone, I have enjoyed Man of Steel, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. The others were brutal for me.

Same, though I haven't seen Aquaman yet. And honestly I still think MoS is good but definitely not great. I felt like it could have been a lot better.

I think MoS was just ok and could have easily turned to awful at any point. It’s biggest problem was just how drab it was for a Superman movie. Then there is so much mythos deviation that I left feeling very disappointed. From his relationship with Pa Kent and not just letting him die, but watching it while doing nothing. To the whole matrix thing which I guess was a nod to the Bottled City of Kandor but came across as generic syfi.

And I was pumped about it before it came out. This was before the Synder stain had set in.

Great flick!

Best dc movie since dark knight.

Scenery and imagery were not just the same old watch the buildings fall super hero flick.

This is pretty much my take as well. I don't hate any of the other movies, but most of them were just ehhh. This one is way above the rest. WW was pretty good, but this one was better.

saw its in Imax 3D. previews evoked memories of Ragnarok. def interested now.

Was a fan of Momoa's character, in GoT then came that Historical nonsense about fur trading. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I know. Ill get berated for this. Its turned into total garbage.

Saw it last night and it was great from start to finish. Easily one of my favorite superhero movies.

The only thing that felt out of place was anorexic Willem Dafoe.

I don’t usually like CGI fests, but this one was really entertaining. DC is finally figuring things out, I hope.

They are slowly wiping away the Zach Snyder stink. Will it be enough?

I think by the time Shazam, Birds of Prey, and the next Wonder Woman come out in 2020 the Snyder films will start to feel distant. Plus there’s the upcoming Joker movie, but I don’t know if it’s affiliated with the DCEU or not.

The one with Joaquin Phoenix is not.

Agreed. I’m not sure what film those who are praising it thought they saw, but this movie was laughably awful. Mantis looked and acted like a Power Ranger villain as did the henchmen. Pretty much all of the underwater CGI scenes were so bad. Seeing them perched on the backs of sharks and seahorses, sorry but it just came across as silly. And don’t even get me started on a lot of the dialogue! It was baaaaaaad! The only scenes I remotely enjoyed were the ones involving Arthur and his dad. The rest of it was utter ish! The most positive thing I can say about Aquaman is it’s the best comedy of the year so far.

It sounds like you’re criticizing a film based on humans that have special powers and live underwater for being over the top...

And Black Manta’s suit was one of the coolest I’ve seen in a superhero movie. It almost looked like it was straight out of the comics.

This is the problem. Sometimes you need to have an awareness as to what will and will not translate well to viewership audiences.

Take the MCU’s Scarlett Witch for example. Google what her wardrobe is actually supposed to look like from the comics, and look at how she actually dresses in the movies. Her comic book look would have translated poorly to the screen, so Marvel adapted. DC just doesn’t have that kind of awareness.

Have you even read an aquaman comic or seen an aquaman cartoon or super powers cartoon?

Dude surfed on fish.

This was pretty close to the comics on a toned down level.

Aquaman has never been a deep character.

And it did translate well to viewership audiences. You do realize you guys are the ones in the minority, right?

Aquaman was a success for 3 reasons:

1) Very very well marketed

2) Jason Momoa is kind of the “it” celebrity right now, especially with women

3) There is literally NOTHING else in theaters currently. If anyone on the planet wants to go see a movie, they are going to see Aquaman.

It was kind of a perfect storm that DC benefited from. Had there been competition out there, Aquaman wouldn’t have had nearly the same amount of success

I know it’s hard to believe, but this is a DCEU movie majority of people actually enjoy watching. It’s been competing with Bumblebee and now Mary Poppins, plus Spiderverse as well. But I agree that it was marketed well and that always helps.
