Lol! You're giving up your age. When I played we cut the stirrups at the bottom and had elastic sewn in so that the stirrup legs went up to our knees and wore sanitary hose under neath. Folded the pants down to about an inch below the knees. Button down jerseys preferred but we had some pull overs, even v necks. Always with sleeves during school ball, but none in the summer.AS long as I've followed baseball, I've hated a certain look. I used to call it the "Clemson Look" that they clearly adopted at Vanderbilt and "He Who Will Not be Named" had in his time at Tennessee.
The biggest part of this look is not just on long pants, but long pants that look like they're tucked into the cleats. I always liked the short pants, long socks and stirrups. The rest of the look resembles an Osh'KoshB'Gosh pajama look more than Nike. The god awful black Vandy jerseys with pinstripes is one. The even worse monocolor uniforms by FSU last season is maybe even worse.
I say let the guys wear what they want, but at least let them look like baseball uniforms and not #$%@#$%!# pants tucked in shoes like kids' onesies.
30 years later my oldest wore his pants down to the top of his shoes and he'd stick his back spikes through the back of his pants, except when he pitched. When he was in tee ball or 7-8 I'd ask him 'Chipper Jones or Ken Griffey Jr.' ? He wore his pants Ken Griffey Jr. style most of the time.
Younger son was an old soul he wanted true stirrups, sleeves an straight billed hats.
