But that's exactly why I said what I said. He's not up to speed yet on running the routes in our offense. You can have great catching ability but if you can't be where the quarterback expects you to be on the field it doesn't matter.Bad guess. He was injured in preseason and did not even dress out until the second game I think. He has shown he can catch the ball in traffic and has really good speed. He may be having problems in understanding the offense or blocking, but he catches balls and can get yards after the catch. He is true 5* player and we need to find a way to get him in the mix or he will be a star somewhere else.
When he time to throw the ball in the first three game, he was spot on and completed a h9igh percentage of his passes, including passes over 20 yards. When the offensive line did/could not keep the rushers off his back he and most any other QB, did not have time to scan the field f0r open receivers. He is young and he will continue to get better, but only if the Oline gets better or the play calling allows him the get rid of the ball more quickly. In fact, the play calling has not changed very much n the last two years and defenses have adjusted to the formations. This ws admitted by the Arkansas D C after we played. them. The we changed our play calling rhythm, see the overtime play calls, we moved the ball rather easily. But that's exactly why I said what I said. LWSVOL - what are we seeing with Heard?
Dealing with injury? Out of shape? Lack of effort/poor technique?
It's hard to believe we don't have a single OT who can play at a higher level than what we've seen from him this year
