Are we getting our hopes up?

I can honestly say that three weeks ago, I was not even close to optomistic about the state of our recruiting class. It amazes me how CDD has done such a great job that we can even entertain the thought of landing some of these guys. I don't know what the class or even the coaching positions my look like, but it is definitely fun to sit back and watch!

I'll play your game.

Let's try to project the odds and I will go first.

Odds we get Ambles -- 33%
Odds we get Rogers -- 60%

Odds that we get both IMO----15%
Odds that we get one IMO--- 75%
Odds that we get neither IMO---25%

Thank you Bob and tell me what I have won for playing.

I know nothing specific relating to the Rogers situation but had a family member whose college selection had a lot to do with matching up and rooming with one of their best friends. It is a very powerful draw in my opinion and that is why I have moved Rogers from 33% to 60%. It is still quite possible that we could get neither and this could be a repeat of Marlon Brown but I am cautiously optimistic at this time.

So you think that if one of them commits, it will affect the other one's chance of committing? That could be, but I doubt it. I think they'll each make their own decision regardless of what the other one does.

As long as we get Rogers Ambles will jut be a bonus. I am not getting any hopes up past Rogers. With the depth at WR (old and new) we are going to have to push for OL. It all starts with the line and IMO it's a must have!

I hope he proves me wrong, but I think Ambles is trouble waiting to happen. The odds of him ending his college career at a major college are slim. He needs a coach like Coach Dooley.

I agree, and two things about that:

1. I hope he doesn't scare away Rogers.

2. I hope he reacts to discipline well. He's gonna get it, and I'm hoping his actions are because he hasn't gotten it before, and not because he doesn't respond well to it.

Only if the first two events are independent which they may not be.

In all honesty, I do not think that the first two events are independent of each other. Some would argue that it is not always advisable to have two great WR prospects on campus at the same time. I know that it can't be helped in this case.

Look what happened in basketball - when we signed one great forward we had to let the other one know that we were no longer interested. Some of these skill position players have huge egos. For this same reason, last year it was argued that we couldn't get Brown and Oku. There are times when great players don't want to share the lime light IMO.

The rumor about Ambles not signing on NSD and Rogers announcing early on NSD help this a lot, imo.

I think we get both and have a class between 5-10. I think some people are getting there hopes by thinking that means instant success. This is going to be a rough year, the schedule is brutal but we are on the right track. 2011 will be the start of the rise to the top. GO VOLS!!!

no need for a meltdown. if we sign neither of them, we still have a fine WR class this year.
However, I will hold out hope that we sign both of them by the time the smoke clears.

Listening to the Carl Pickens interview - he had a 'tude when he played here, and seemed to respond just fine to the discipline dished out by the coaching staff ("I never ran so much in my life!").
