Are we normal?

Programs don't become top ten all time if they have average fans. Fans that demand excellence and don't just have a passing interest in their team are a necessity.

UT's all-time winning percentage is about 67%. I wouldn't call that excellent. I would say UT's bad eras haven't been as bad as other schools. But it isn't like UT's history is riddled with undefeated seasons.

The stretch from '89-'99 wasn't the norm. We were all hoping it would become the new norm, but it didn't.

KY maybe not for football, but rumors for there bball program fans went crazy. I honestly thing any program with a winning tradition wants to be in the know on all of the major decisions.

Do other fan bases act like we do? Did KY fans hover over their chat site waiting for any and all news about who their new coach would be (regardless of whether or not it was the truth)? All I'm familiar with is my love for my Vols and the love my fellow Vols have for our team and school. So, are we normal?
No we are not normal we are TENNESSEE FANS the best football fans GOD has ever created.

The Volunteer fanbase as a whole is very normal.

Now Volnation, especially the Grudenites on the coaching rumors forum are as far from normal as one can be

Arkansas fans are in full meltdown mode just like many here. Wanting to fire the AD because he doesn't give the "fans" an update on who is being interviewed or don't just write checks for 6 million. So yes.. we are normal

KY is a bad example...I get a kick thinking about it. The five actual UK fans who not only love Basketball but actually give a crap about football, hovering around their chat site waiting, wishing and hoping a coach will actually make them relevant in something other then basketball.

Normal btw doesnt always equate to rational, sane, and emotionally stable people...insanitity is the norm if you live in a mental institution. If all the wackos think your normal...you have a problem.

they absolutely did

399 posts in a day though right? As you know volnation has 399 posts in 5 mins when news is popping. Only fan base in the world that compete with Vol Fans is Alabama. The Vols have the most fanatical bunch of fans on earth. If the Vols ever start winning at the clip they did in the mid-to late 90's, Freak would have to upgrade the server just to accommodate daily flow. Most team websites get a few hundred posts a day. This place gets that in 5 mins. You of all people know this being a mod, just trying to make a point.

If it was a hiring for their men's basketball program they probably did.

Here comes the fake Vol fan. 8th all time in wins and 11th in winning percentage. Ahead of Florida, FSU, and Miami. Try again.

If speaking simply on "expectations", no. Far from normal. We have 2 national titles in 70 years.

This!! I remember one "hopefully young" fan saying that he expects our coach to have us in the NC game every three years. To hope is good but to expect... Come on! Where do you come from?

As a Buckeye fan by birth, and pull for the Vols due to friends in Knoxville. I have a blast at your games, my first was the Notre Dame game years ago. I lurk at this site for updates and think you actually have fans with some perspective compared the lack of reason on the OSU boards.

I can absolutely state that there would have been no arguments about firing Fulmer or Dooley. We went 12-0 and people want our DC (Fickell) fired. The only place worse is Penn State and they are completely delusional.
Go to "Blue and White Illustrated" or "Audibles" if you want a laugh:birgits_giggle:.

Good luck with the coaching pick. A recruiter may be the key.

Most Tennessee fans are normal by SEC and standards around the country.

Here on VolNation you get a totally different perspective and many around here just aren't normal and that probably includes me at times, LOL.

First off we ARE Tennessee so we overexpect all the time.

We expect 10 or more Wins every year.

We expect to be in the SEC Championship game 6 times or more in a decade.

We expect to Win the SEC Championship at least 3 times a decade.

We expect to Win a National Championship at least 1 time or more a decade.

We also ARE the SEC and that means that everyone in the SEC loves football and is much more passionate about our football than anywhere else in the country so people not from SEC states always think we're just plain crazy.

I've been a Tennessee fan for over 50 years and if that makes me crazy then I LOVE being a crazy Vols fan and I wouldn't change it for anything!

VFL...GBO!!!
