If he wins 11 games next year then I'm guessing he will be the permanent coach?

If he wins 11 games next year it'll be because every SEC team on Arky's schedule will be getting busted for massive recruiting infractions between now and August.

Wow.

aaaaand now I know how the rest of the SEC felt when DD was hired. (Sorry, it had to be said)

DD had not proved that he could win in a bigtime program
JLS has already proved that he cannot.

There is quite a difference in the two.

This is also an interim hire, not fully HC

You could sub in placeholder if you wanted, it'd likely end up working just the same

I can see Ark beating every team but LSU and Bama again this year.

Fulmer couldn't beat this guy out? lol

22-26 at Michigan State, 1-6 in bowl games

You actually think Phil would go somewhere with an interim tag?

I will be the first to admit maybe it was time for him to go, but our fans that like to poke fun at him are just ignorant.

Yes, any unemployed coach would. It's basically a job interview, win 10 games and you get the job full time.

You can win 10 games there and they decide there's a bigger name/better/bigger deal coach they'd rather have and choose to go that route.

It's not just so simple. There's no real guarantee at all that you're there longer than that 1 year.

(also sidenote: the guy's not really under that same general unemployed coach category)

That makes sense for a regular guy like you or me, but for a guy in his position it makes zero sense. Think about it a little bit.

OH, dont get me wrong, I think that this is a great move by Arkansas. Definitely a placeholder. Good move

They may still end up going with someone else next year. And maybe Fulmer gets hired then, and has a chance to put a decent staff together. No assistant worth having is making a jump right now.

But right now it was best for Arky to stick with a known commodity. I like JLS, just never want him coaching my team again.

If fulmer was their guy it would have already happened. No chance now.

But there is no home run hire out there for Arkansas. They are stuck with up and comer coaches at this point.
