John L Smith is the worst SEC hire ever -- or at least a tie for worst, with Croom from MSU a few years back --- Tyler Wilson lost millions staying for a SR season .

Meh, he gave Nutt a solid base of recruits to work with. JLS is coaching a team with top 15 talent to a 4-8 finish.

I would agree with you but Im not real sure of how he is getting to 4. Right now I dont see them getting past Miss St, Tulsa, or Ol Miss.......or Kentucky.....

7 games left to win 3....Im not so sure anymore.

Part of the reason he's an interim and wasn't fully hired as their next head coach

Dooley is the worst ever imo he can't even beat a team with more talent than his own....

Goes to show you what a coach means to a program... Arkansas doesn't have top 15 talent but they had a competent head coach last year, this year not so much...

No Fulmerite here but Phil would have been the better hire. Smith has destroyed that team in just a few months.

And it's not exclusive to NCAA, look at the 'Aints....0-4 with out Sean Peyton (who is a jerk)

hey, what's another $15 million:loco:

John L. Smith bankruptcy grows to $40 million debt

"LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New documents filed Wednesday show former University of Louisville football coach John L. Smith is more than $40 million in debt.

That figure comes from federal bankruptcy court in Arkansas, where Smith now coaches the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The figure is higher than the $25 million reported in his first bankruptcy filing last month.

Most of the debt owed to several Louisville banks after local real estate investments lost value in the recession.

The documents outline Smith's current finances in detail, including revelation that he has just $107 per month available after he meets all his expenses for rent, food, clothing, etc."

Croom doesn't belong in this comparison. He won a bowl with Miss. State.

I have no sympathy for guys like this. I’ve been broke before and what I learned was a pack of bologna and a loaf of bread will cover quite a few meals and free up some extra money in the process. Its all about a lifestyle change and obviously this guy doesn’t get it yet… $107 a month…whatever…

The Arkansas-Auburn game this Saturday has become the SEC West equivalent of Vanderbilt-Kentucky. Ouch.
