Arkansas vs Liberty

Is 6'3, 232 and 6'5, 232 really that undersized? Drew Sanders has been a monster for most of the season but the secondary has been awful and countless injuries haven't helped.

The OL was the biggest failure against Liberty though. I'm not sure how they can look like one of the better OLs in the SEC most of the season and then get absolutely dominated by a G5 team but here we are.
Who is your QB next year?

Pittman always had a fairly low ceiling. He just reached it quickly. Also, Liberty should replace Vandy in the SEC tomorrow. They are better athletically, have better facilities, and spend more money.
Hopefully you won’t be saying that about our head coach after a couple of years. Short term success is sometimes fleeting, unless you’re a real blue blood, and even then it’s like catching lighting in a bottle. Let’s pray we have the right head coach long tern.

Tennessee could always recruit short term. They just needed a coach to over-achieve to allow recruiting to maintain success and not destroy momentum. Heupel has done that twice now. While they may drop back a bit next year, it feels like this is on track.

Probably KJ Jefferson again. Don't think he's really on anyone's draft radar unless he's just hellbent on leaving.

Otherwise I'd expect us to go after a big name transfer. Sounds like Briles may be gone after this year so hard to tell depending on who the new OC might be.

OK thanks, for some reason I thought this was his last year

Where do you think Briles goes?

He could get a G5 head coaching job but there are some insiders on our 247 boards posting things recently saying he isn't well liked by a lot of the players and he and Pittman have had some disagreements so it may be a mutual thing. I will say it's odd how different our offense looks from Lebby's or even your offense with Heupel when they come from the same system so it makes me wonder if there is somewhat of a power struggle in playcalling. I assumed Pittman would go with a pro-style OC when he was hired and was glad he didn't but former NFL OC Dowell Loggains is our TE coach now (he played QB at Arkansas) so many fans assume he will be the obvious choice for it.

Interesting, thanks.

If Briles isn't lighting up DB's it's because Pittman didn't delegate the job he hired him for.

It has to be a bit disconcerting that for the 3rd season in a row, one of the narratives around the SEC has been "What a great hire Sam Pittman was!" or "Sam Pittman has really changed the culture there!" during the first 3-4 games of the season, and then they've imploded after that.

It's called Wildkat Syndrome. All the praise of the world, and ESPN, then the rest of your schedule arrives.

A lot of that is just that Arkansas simply doesn't have the depth other teams in the SEC have. Those teams who recruit around 20-25 typically have very good starters but a few injuries really make a difference when playing the upper tier of the SEC who all recruit between 5-15 if not higher. Of course that doesn't really have anything to do with losing to Liberty.

Arkansas did win 5/6 to end the season last year though with the only loss being @ Alabama.

It's tough because Arkansas has been a very good rushing team and has the leading rusher in the SEC so you do need to run the ball but I'm just not sure if being a run-first team works in today's college football. Too many times I've seen us dominate a team all the way down the field by picking up chunk rushing yards and then fumble or get stuffed three times in a row and settle for a field goal. Doesn't really matter if you aren't scoring. It just seems like it's much harder to stop a great passing team three times in a row than vice versa.
