Article about Tyler Bray...

The kids sounds great and would love to have him. However, I hope CLK tells him how much we want him but we are only going to sign one more QB and with you saying you are not going to announce until NSD we are going to be forced to continue looking. If we pick up another QB commitment during this time then we won't be able to honor our offer to you!
Lets him know we need him on board now but leaves the ball in his court.

BB, Oku, and Jackson are completely different situations. Unlike other positions, QBs commit early...If we were only going to sign one RB, then I doubt that we would turn a #5 RB down in the hopes that a #1 would sign with us late.

The QBs will be almost completely gone by February and if Bray doesn't sign with us, then we won't get anyone we want. Other QBs are unlikely to be willing to accept an offer contingent on Bray going to another school. They want to have the feeling that they are wanted. Telling these other QBs that we want them only if Bray goes elsewhere won't cut it.

We are not only going to sign one QB guys...

Well, there is a big difference between cutting ties with him which you suggested and pursuing other QB's... And you're wrong about two QB's going to the same school, it happens all the time. Cam Newton and John Brantley, Schaeffer and Ainge, ND has two commits right now that are in the top 10 I believe.... We will certainly pursue other QB's, but at no point during the process do we need to "cut ties" just b/c he is taking his time...

Also, people are so afraid that not having a QB now will hurt our offensive recruiting. Sure, it probably plays some factor, but receiver isn't really our most pressing need right now. We got a good group of freshman receivers plus Jones, Moore, and Warren all coming back next year.... Offensive Lineman shouldn't be phased MUCH by the QB situation b/c they know we have the #1 RB, etc.

how do these kids really not know where they want to go until NSD?? that is such bs, just trying to get some spotlight in highschool.

lame. That is like saying, "why does peyton manning do all those commercials? Just trying to make more money even though he is already a multi-millionaire."

Bryce Brown didn't know where he was going until over a month after NSD. I'm sure you don't mind that now.

Though I doubt it will be the case, should Bray delay his decision until NSD, I suspect Kiffin will have already gained the commitment from another QB for 2010...possibly even 2011.

This is not to say that Bray would not have a spot next Feb. But, in this scenario, I believe he would be one of two taken then.

totally disagree. a top tier qb waiting until signing day to announce his choice could potentially have negative effects on that school's signing class. on the other hand, top qb's that commit early usually become powerful recruiters for the school of their choice.

Most of you guys are forgetting what being in High School are like. What 17-yr old kid doesnt want all this attention? Right now he's just soaking it all up, and when he gets tired of it he'll commit.

And for all of the partying comments, maybe it's just me, but that's one of the only things to do in high school thats fun...

I agree with you. Sometimes its hard to remember what it was like in high school. Even if you are going to college to just be a student you have friends, family, and teachers telling you different places to go. I can't imagine what its like as a top tier athlete. Don't get me wrong I understand the benefits of a kid committing early but would rather have them in the end.

He was a no name just a few weeks ago. Lets give the kid a chance to breathe.

I know it is part of the process but the game playing with the NSD is wearing my patience thin.....either you want to play for the big orange or you dont.....i would jump all over that offer if i could trade places................

Miami is right.

I would allow him to wait until he takes his visit to Knoxville when we play UCLA. If he fails to commit after his visit, then we immediately go elsewhere and his offer is pulled from the table. He can't be allowed to hold all the cards until February 2010.

True, I think we need to prove something, like win a game or two, before we're gonna land an elite QB recruit.
