Article: Tennessee’s Pearl not coming to Heights

The BC job is awful anyway. I'll wait to praise Pearl for loyalty until he gets offered and turns down a job equivalent to USC football. That hasn't happened yet.

Interesting that Pearl brought it up.

Like I thought, if their ever was a spot Bruce could have left us for it would have been BC because of his passion for that area/school.

But, luckily for us he has alot of the stuff the former football coach didn't have, loyalty, dignity, commitment...take your pick.

“ ‘And I’d love to come back there. But Tennessee took a real chance on me, and I owe it to them to stay here and finish the job.’ ”

Too bad CLK doesn't have this kind of integrity.

Very stand up and very classy. I love seeing integrity - it's so scarce these days. And it looks good in Orange.

By and large, coaches are paid mercenaries. They don’t hesitate to take what they perceive to be a better job with better pay (same as you and I). Pearl has done nothing to prove that he is any different.

I've been following this thread to get another perspective on the possibility of Bruce Pearl coming to BC.

I understand why he wants to stay in Knoxville but the BC job isn't lousy. In fact I'd argue that BC's basketball history makes it a more attractive job than the one Pearl took in 2005.

Best of luck to Pearl and the Vols.

Exactly how does turning down a lousy job show integrity?

Read this quote a few more times

Don't kid yourself. It's a northeastern program in a southern based league, with an administration that has done a good job of alienating both the football and basketball coaching professions. You'll be lucky to hire a coach as good as Bill Coen or Ed Cooley. Nobody is leaving a good job for BC.

Which proves nothing. If he loves it here so much, why did his pals the Pumps spend so much time last spring begging Arizona for an interview on his behalf? That's like saying because I'm not going to leave my law firm and go be the principal and basketball coach at my old high school I have some abiding loyalty to my firm and will never leave.

Priceless.

No one cares about you or your law firm.

I was just showing you the difference between a man, and a man-child(Kiffin).

Talked to a guy from Boston last week and he told me even the majority of people in Boston can't stand Boston College. It is strictly a pro town

They care even less about your Sewanee quality comparisons between someone leaving for one of the best jobs in college sports and someone tunring down the 10th best job in the ACC. Hey, Pearl didn't take the job at Louisiana-Lafayette, either. That kind of loyalty deserves a statue and a raise.

Pearl didn't exactly leave a good job to come to UT. What's your point?

Right, because an opportunity to coach football at USC or basketball at BC are equivalent.

In your stalkish attempt to catch Hat at something you continue to make yourself look stupid.

You've said nothing.

Pearl has been loyal to Tennessee, and according to him he will remain loyal. I'll take his word over your prediction 7 days a week.

What? Did you look in your Crystal Ball again? I hope you've gotten a new one since the time you said JP Prince wasn't good enough for a scholly, and Bruce wouldn't last 3 years.

Peace.

As I've said before, in my opinion 99.5% of the posters on this site are immature, undereducated, and proven losers. You thinking I'm stupid, or everyone on this site thinking I'm stupid wont make me lose a bit of sleep, big boy.

I likey the Pearl, but I don't think he'll have a chance to turn down Kentucky, UCLA, Duke, UNC, Indiana, or Kansas.

My three year window on Pearl being gone still has time to run. Perhaps, for the first time in your life, you might want to actually know what you're talking about before you shoot off and show your ignorance. That same "crystal ball" you referenced said Pearl was a fool for giving scholarships to Marques Johnson, Tony Passley, and Phillip Jurick. Remind me what essential contributions those guys made to this year's team. If Tanning Bed gave them scholarships, I'm sure they have to be great.

And this answers my question.
