Would have loved to see us make a proper run in the SEC Tourney.

At this stage though, if we go to the Big Dance, we are going to be a difficult seed, and our hope would be what? --- Sweet Sixteen?

I think I would rather see the team make a real run in the NIT and prepare for next year than be a bubble team this year. If we were going to make some proper noise in the NCAA, we would have beaten Bama today. We could be a legitimate semi-finalist in the NIT with all that entails. That seems more exciting to me.

What say you?

I'd rather get beat by 30 in the first NCAA tourney game than win the NIT.

Wow.

I think Arsenal football club really regrets losing their League Cup final in 2010.

In all honesty, Vanderbilt have a legit basketball trophy, and we don't. Would rather have a shot at winning a trophy.

Yeah, I think we should follow the South Carolina model. They won the NIT two years in a row and have parlayed that into their recent success.

General rule of thumb is that you want NCAA over NIT no matter what.

However, it's up to you to decide to cheer on your team, or talk trash about them for missing the NCAAs. I would think that'd be an easy choice, but many posters have proven otherwise.

Eh I guess I'm weird. At this point I'd rather go deep in the NIT and get the kids some tournament experience then just to the NCAA to lose in the first round...

If this team could exorcise some demons they have the potential to be really amazing next season, and I'd rather take the lessor now in hopes of going deep in the real deal next year after a great season.

How much did the NIT run last year benefit us...that should answer your question.

There's a reason you don't see teams turn down the NCAA for the NIT.

Even if the NCAA was off the table, I'd just as soon turn down an NIT invite. Remember when Memphis won the NIT several years ago? See, nobody cares.

I can't even remember who won the NIT last year. I can name all the Elite Eight teams from last year. That speaks volumes.

I'm scratching my head reading this garbage. When I opened this I thought the OP was trolling, I thought he'd get ripped and I didn't think I would see OP get any support from posters. And then I see this crap. Come on people.

Some of y'all need your heads checked. I'm embarrassed that fans would prefer the nit and admit it.

I would personally have my team play, but I wouldn't think any less of a program if they declined the invitation.

There wasn't a single person that said they'd prefer the NIT choice besides the OP. What are you talking about?

Lol. I just noticed that. He did have one supporter. The other posts I saw were actually the OP. I rarely look at who is posting. My bad.

All good. After I read it again, I see how you could have gotten confused.

But you're right. NCAA all day, every day.

I do remember the Lamecocks winning it 2 years in a row a few years back -- its a big deal to them though
