Let’s have some opinions on this year’s record. Here’s mine.
12-0
Would need some considerable luck. I don’t see it happening. Unbelievable season.
11-1
This time they would need a little luck. Possible and a great season.
10-2
This is where I am. Another very good season.
9-3
Slight disappointment. Good season but lost to someone we shouldn’t have.
8-4
Disappointing. Slight regression or some bad luck.
7-5
Very disappointing. My BVS is reactivated.
6-6
No words. Step away from the ledge.
Anything worse then I know I have been transported to an alternate reality.

I see the floor as 8-4 and that would require some bad luck, key injuries, etc. I see the ceiling as 12-0 and that would require some good luck, and no key injuries, etc. How's that for a prognostication? LOL........

9-3

Either the Gatah jinx gets us or the Aggies are much better than most anticipate.

We'll drop one of them plus Bama/Georgia.

Honestly, kind of a "par" for this season to gear up for 24. Heupel keeps his foot on the gas whenever possible first half of games all season to get Nico as much playing time as possible in second half.

Anything less than an SEC & National Championship is technically a disappointment.

That being said, as long as they don't get blown out by anyone or lose to a team they shouldn't lose to, and if they only lose a couple of games at most, I wouldn't really call it a disappointment.

I don't want to put a number on it because there are just too many unpredictable possibilities.

It’s hard for me to call 9-3 a disappointment given the loss of many key players and a tougher schedule. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Honestly last yrs schedule was much harder than this years will be. Pitt was a better non conf game and was ranked, compared to a bad VA team this year. UTSA may be our tougher OOC game this year. LSU, last year was better than A'M will be this year. We just rotate where we play Ala and Ga.This is probably our worst OOC schedule in years. We do have Mizzou and Fla on the road compared to last year,, but also get SCe and Vandy at home. It's possible that only 2 teams on our schedule are ranked when we play them, unlike last year where we played 7 that were ranked at the time we played

8-4.

I just don’t trust Milton. He’s had two opportunities to prove he’s the dude, and squandered both of them. He’s got all the physical tools you could dream of or make in a video game, but I just don’t trust what he’s got between the ears. My mouth is watering for crow, but I think we’re all going to miss HH very, very much. The offense doesn’t seem to flow the same with Milton. I just think he’s a practice/combine superstar who can’t put it together when the lights come on. I’m not a hater, I’m just taking the sample size I’ve seen.

The Orange Bowl was really, really good. But there were no stakes. Clemson had their backup quarterback playing, we had ours. Both had no shot at the CFP or any real accolades. Both had high-profile opt-outs. It’s a case study on the irrelevancy of modern-day bowl games. So yeah, Joe, go out there and sling it. But pressure bursts pipes, or it can make diamonds. I just think Bazooka Joe is more copper than coal. Again, please let me eat crow.

UGA is a juggernaut. Bama wants revenge, and they’ll probably get it at home. And I think we’ll split UF, USCjr, UK, and aTm. Please. Crow.

9-3 record and the Citrus Bowl!!
That is a good estimate. But I am back to the point as a Vol fan where any win total without a second digit will be a huge disappointment. We are blue bloods and like Bama, we need to accept nothing but excellence. Believe in our birthright people.
And yes, I realize that we still need a couple or more recruiting classes to get back to the depth needed to sustain that expectation.

12-0 - not realistic and would require a Heisman season from Milton, others really stepping up, and some luck.
11-1 - pretty much the same as above, but a lot more realistic getting a split with AL and UGa
10-2 - very realistic, and the likely ceiling this year
9-3 - this or 10-2 is where I see us being
8-4 - a disappointment, and I won't even go any lower than this

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with not trusting Joe Milton. From what we have seen to what everyone has been saying about him, it is obvious to me he has matured tremendously from his time as a starter in 2021. What we have with Milton is a guy that has 100% bought into what an excellent coaching staff has asked him to do. His attitude is absolutely what you want in your team leader and starting QB. I realistically expect him to perform at a level similar to HH, based on his afore mentioned attitude and the excellent player development shown by our coaching staff. It would not surprise me to see Joe have a truly tremendous season.

As for our record goes, I think we will split Bama and UGA and lose another one we shouldn't have lost. I hope I am proven incorrect. Go Vols!

Am technically at 9.2 wins, a bit above FPI's prediction.

So, 9-3.

8-4 would be just a slight letdown, just as 10-2 would be a slight surprise.

Anything outside of that would be different.
