Aside from the officiating…

Where is James? I’ve read several places where the tests and examinations show no damage, but his knee “just doesn’t feel right”?
Somebody needs to crap or get off the toilet
James has a knee injury and has missed several games. They tried to bring him back but his knee still hurts. Don’t know how long he will be out.

Phillips is our most talented player but he has had two stinker games back to back. ZZ is our most important player. Heck he even led us in rebounds yesterday. JJJ is just injuried. Afraid it may be a lost season for him and hope it doesn’t linger into his professional career. Nkamhoua is most frustrating because you never know what you are going to get. He can be very good or disappear. Plavsic is most infuriating because as a senior he needs to show more maturity on court. Vescovi has been most disappointing this far with his play. He is tough and shows leadership but his shooting % is by far the worst we have seen throughout his career and his turnover rate is ticking up. Key has been about as expected. Mashack has improved and deserves to stay in game even when he makes a mistake…gets pulled quickly. Awaka is most fun to watch, as he just moves people out of the way and is a magnet to the ball.

I feel like sometimes people feel like pretending the officiating was balanced or close to balanced makes them seem removed from it all, a more mature fan with a better perspective or something. That may be true when the officiating really isn't that bad, and I admit its a vice of mine to be overly critical of officials, but when its obviously one sided it should be named as such

Fans ALWAYS point to the officiating when their team loses. It's the biggest cliche in sports.

Phillips needs to get a better read on games and opponents and develop a feel for where he can get good shot opportunities
in games. Arizona is a physical team and its physicality threw him off.

Our opponents chief defensive priority is not to give Vescovi good looks from the 3. He's been getting a /lot/ of defensive attention, double-teams,
and they've made it hard for him. And if he's struggling to score, UT is struggling to score.

To be fair, we win this game if Key could've made 2 of the 3 wide open threes he had down the stretch, regardless of the refs. We played pretty well overall, we just miss James as someone that could possibly get you a bucket when we're struggling. Phillips has lost a lot of confidence over the last couple games, maybe hit a little wall. I expect he'll bounce back, but he just hasn't been very good as of late.
There's nothing fair about bad officiating, especially when it's blatant. It was too obvious to overlook. It's easy to see why they haven't lost a game in the last 25 games--paid officials!

Santi's shooting was the biggest factor (in my opinion, of course). I've seen him cold, I've seen him miss bad a time or two, but I've never seen him miss THAT badly time and again.

We do not have a way to score when the shots are not falling. No one can drive and force a foul. It looks like he has Phillips playing that role but he is 20lbs away from accomplishing it. Defense is solid but the offense has holes.
Be careful people will argue that it’s not a problem on offense.

That was last year's Vols team. Lived or died by Santi hot or cold. It killed us in the Dance.

Great game. Arizonia was playing with an Allstar team of Euopean and African players.
Although, Tennessee has international players most of our guys showed up as projects and have grown into players.
After Arizonia got caught in FBI gate they have decided to out Gonzaga
...Gonzaga. Good for them! I guess?

The Technical on Uros after he scored, although perhaps the right call by the book, should have been a separation and warning to both players. The game was too important for that call at that time. Uros had to sit. After Uros scored... it was Bol who grabbed the ball and chess bumped Uros. Perhaps the call was the result of a seed planted by a Coach who is trying to out Gonzaga... Gonzaga. Just a thought.

Later, one of Arizona's Europeans ran in to Uros and flopped hoping for foul number four on Uros only tobe rewarded with his second. Coach Barnes pulled Uros and warned him of the crowd boos and the mind set of the referees.

Uros is an enforcer. Too tell the truth, Arizonia big guys were intimidated by him. My goodness what Coach Barnes has done with Uros! He is special ...if he gets a fair shake from referees... he is unstoppable. He did not get a fair shake last night.

ON was a beast last night. He made Arizonia take Bol out of the game with his three point ball shooting.

Adoo could not guard their big 6' 10" European. Bring on Tobe. Awaka is one year away from being the second coming of Grant Williams...only taller. What a future that kids has. Goodness!

Phillips had a tough night. Doesn't have the body (yet) to bang down low. Perhaps that translates into at least one more year.
Hope so!

Not disappointed. For once I think Jimmy Dykes' praise is warranted.

Without saying I didn’t watch the game, I didn’t watch the game!
Absolutes such as fans “always” is a red flag post for me. There are varying degrees of bad calls and numbers of bad calls. I rarely bring that up, but whoa, this game was different. As an example, go back and listen to Barnes’ post game press conference. He rarely comments on officiating, but this time he was miffed, and expressed such.

Barnes’s comments in his press conference were spot on and echoed my feelings. Anyone saying losers always blame the referees for the loss and inferring this game was not influenced by the refs, either didn’t watch the game or was glad that UT got beat.

SV’s shoulder CLEARLY still is not 100% and it’s affecting his game on the offensive end. I think you’re correct about Phillips…just hoping that proverbial light comes on before league play. I’m just not to fired up over this loss to Az. They definitely are among the top teams in the nation. And that means we probably are too.

Exactly, or they just have little knowledge of basketball.

Point is, regardless of the refs, we still had a chance to win. The refs were terrible. And we still should've won, just have to make plays.
