Asses kicked. That's all

I'd say this loss was 100% on the coaches. Nico and the offense battled. However, the defense kept letting Georgia complete seam route after seam route. Tim Banks lost us this game with his inability to adjust.
Battled with 0 points in the second half. That’s unacceptable if you’re going to blame the defense.

I noticed they seemed to recognize some of our alignments and as a group began to signal something. Gotta wonder if we're still compromised in signaling plays somehow?
I didn’t want to say it but it was my first thought when Georgia had a run blitz called into the gap our play was designed to on a key play and again when Georgia had a play specifically designed to stop a zone read. Our run game is too complex to get that lucky twice, IMO.

Or maybe our offensive calls are too predictable with 4 years of tape to review. Have not seen much innovation on the offensive side of the ball the last two years honestly.

On about 25-35% of our run plays, the RBs are forced to go opposite where the run play is designed to go because of penetration or blitzes. Hard to tell if it is just an OL problem or is the D recognizing the play.

This is true. Both are true at the same time. Vols defense got ZEROOOOOOOO pressure all night. Completely whooped. That said, the OL offered no real pass protection and had just idiotic penalties. Complete drive killers.

Couldn’t even get in FG range.

Beck wasn’t touched. Nothing. Hardly rushed. D Line got abused.
Look at Becks uni compared to Nico. UGA were consistently putting our online on skates in 1-1 situations. Our Dline got absolutely manhandled by their OLine. It's that simple. No DB can cover for 5 seconds. When we blitzed, they picked it up perfectly. When they blitzed, we were unable to keep our QB clean

Until we can beat Ga we’re not elite. Yes we’re years ahead of where we were a few years ago but we still don’t have the horses in the trenches, we got whipped on both sides, everybody has us figured out on offense. We are very predictable and being cute only works for so long.

2nd Half 14-0 UGA

Vols Defense got smacked on seam routes repeatedly and

Offense didn’t show up 2nd Half

Disappointing, regardless of officiating

I can’t believe we lost. The refs screwed us, Sankey paid them to make sure Georgia gets into the playoffs, on a neutral field we shut them out, we took them too lightly because we’re a superior team and we just weren’t focused, Banks sucks and should’ve been fired after the Arkansas game, Heupel isn’t the guy and should go back to Oklahoma, ABC wanted Georgia to win to keep the viewership for the playoffs, ESPN Gameday crew all picked Georgia so they had to win to keep the sponsors happy, the stadium lights were too bright and our DBs couldn’t track the ball. All of that and the refs screwed us.

Did I forget anything?
If you'll cover the special teams coach and Smokeys trainers, then this should be complete.

Right here is your game folks. Good observation.

We got beat, we did not get our asses kicked - especially considering the exceedingly lopsided referee calls.

people are gonna blame the DBs, Nico, the refs, whatever, but take a look at the PFF grades for our OL last night:

Spraggins 58
Mays 57.4
Karic 53
Campbell 48 (43 plays)
D. Davis 45 (31 plays)
Heard 44.1

they gave up five sacks, and they opened virtually nothing up for Sampson, who had to earn every yard he gained. we can't take more shots downfield if we can't pass block.

Really like CJH but until he wins a big road game doubts will remain
It’s a fair point. He has struggled in big road games. Even not so big road games he has struggled (USCjr, 2 years ago, Arky this year). He has one notable big road win in 4 years (at LSU). I guess you could say 2 if you count OU this year.

Aside from the road struggles, CJH still has us at 8-2 and in the playoff discussion. In my opinion, he is the best coach we’ve had in a very long time.

The program has a ceiling right now, and we haven’t yet shown indicators that we’re ready to break through it.

Our ceiling:

8-10 wins (most of the time)

Minimum 1-2 “sleepwalk” losses per season to an inferior opponent.

Generally struggle to win big games on the road.

Plagued by bad penalties and undisciplined play that tends to show up most egregiously on the big stages.

In the hunt but not truly a serious contender for championships - a habitual “also ran.”

I love TN. I support our coaches and players. There’s a lot of truth in this post.
