Don't know where you get information but the boosters were never willing to open the checkbook last time. This time they are lining up to pay Dooley's buyout and get a new coach in here. If it were entirely up to Hart and the athletic dept we would have Smart. Thankfully it is not.

Once again, your just claiming it to be fact. History shows that is not the case. The fans always claim the boosters will pay the buyouts and pay big money for a head coach. It just has not happened here at Tennessee. Until they actually do, it's just a great story with not alot to support it. UT is in financial trouble currently because boosters did not step up and pay off the buyouts people claim they were willing to do last time. 2 years after the fact when UT is broke is when the talk of "the boosters were not willing to help" with the buyouts talk started. I hope they do step up and hire a winner. Until they do, I will expect a Kirby smart hire.

Our athletic department dropped it's budget from $104million to $99million. The majority of which is governed by, and brought in by, the football program. I believe the red tape idiots that run our fine university know they're going to have to make an investment to get the return we need. Dooley is proof positive that going bargain basement is a losing proposition.

That's cool, believe what you want. I never heard they were willing to pay buyouts last time. In fact some were flat out against firing Fulmer but most took the stance of ok but you better not screw it up. Kiffin left on his own and when Dooley was hired it is no secret that they were not willing to pay big bucks for a coach.

I know, I know - we really need a proven commodity. But how about one of these guys:

1. Kirby Smart (obvious possibility), Defensive Coordinator, Alabama
2. Manny Diaz, Defensive Coordinator, Texas
3. Pat Narduzzi, Defensive Coordinator, Michigan State
4. Everett Withers, Co-Defensive Coordinator, Ohio State (and former interim coach at UNC)
5. Chad Morris, Offensive Coordinator, Clemson

Anyone object to any of these guys (if we happened to pick one of them)?

All of them.

1)Smart: the Saban castoff experience has already failed twice.

2)Diaz: he sucks at Texas and actually has them concerned about Mack Brown. Too young and inexperienced to be DC there, I don't see how that qualifies him to be a head coach.

3) Narduzzi: I don't see him being a draw for recruits in the SEC.

4)Withers: the only one on your list worth mentioning. He still shouldn't be in the top 10 for UT though.

5)Morris: the guy was coaching high school until 2009.He may turn out to be another Malzahn but why not go after Malzahn instead?
