Assisting the Runner Flag

This was a weird call live. Everyone around me had never heard of this before and then they just replayed the down, no loss of yards.

We got called for this on 4th and 4 in the first quarter. We threw the long touchdown right after so it didnt matter, but is that a new rule? Can anyone weigh on why they called it? I was at the game and it was hard to see.
Remember when Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart's teammates at USCw pushed one of them (I don't remember which) across the goal line in like, 2004 or 2005? That was illegal. And I think it was called as a penalty.

But the following year or two, the NCAA changed the rule so that a player could be pushed. But not pulled. They clearly separated the two. One no longer a penalty, the other still was.

Been that way ever since.

Go Vols!

No, they actually respotted the ball at the original line of scrimmage and then moved it back 2 yards which is what makes no sense. And it is not a spot foul.
