Same rules as PJ posted in the last thread.

If you see something important in that thread and not already posted, please do so. This will make it easy for people to quickly come in and get all the new rumors/news without having to dig through pages for one nugget.

Please, do not chat in this thread as that would destroy the purpose.

Also, please copy/paste the quote if it is from VN so that others can click and go to that thread. To go to a certain post please click the

Austin posted this earlier. I think we will have a better idea on some finalized stuff with his staff tomorrow. I don't think that the entire staff will be in place tomorrow. But I think we will have more of a clear identity.

Jones has met with all the current staff and he is watching tape of each units play and go from there. I expect Graham will be retained, but I don't have that from Jay or coach Jones at this point. But Jones made it clear he wanted a staff with a Tennessee feel to it.

I also believe there is a chance that Sam Pittman is retained.

Tee is a possibility but I don't think Jones has made that decision yet.

We are continue to chase on things with his staff as Jones continues to work through his options tonight and will continue to do so tomorrow.

This is a rumor from TOS. The guys seemed solid with it but still look at it as a rumor until someone in the media says it.

Per his next door neighbor who has become pretty good friends with him, Pittman has been let go. This is after several players personally went to CBJ asking that he be retained.

Edit: Hubbs is saying the same thing now. It looks solid.

Per Hubbs 12/8 11:53 AM

I'm not saying he (Tee) is not in play. It all depends on how Jones lays out his staff.

His OC is coming with him who is also his qb's coach
Graham is going to be his RB's coach
His OL coach is likely coming with him
His WR coach is also his recruiting coordinator so it would make some sense that he would be coming.

So where would that leave Tee? Now maybe Tee coaches receivers and the Cincy WR's coach goes to tight ends. That could be possible. Maybe Jones' WR's coach at Cincy is not offered the chance to come and he names a new coach his recruiting coordinator.

Just alot of different scenarios there that could include Tee and might not include Tee.

As I said last night, I think Jones' DC is going to come with him and the rest of the hires defensively will likely be guys who aren't currently at Cincy.

But we will see.

On the staff.... Reply
We have this in too many different threads so here it is all in one and I will pin it.

The entire defensive staff has been let go.

We believe that Jones is going to bring his defensive coordinator John Jancek with him. Jancek was an assistant at UGA before going to Cincy.

The rest of the defensive staff is unknown.

Jay Graham has been retained and will be on the road recruiting with Jones next week.

Jim Chaney has been let go. Jones is expected to bring his offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian with him from Cincy.

It's thought the rest off the offensive staff will not be back as well. It looks like Jones will be bring or is trying to bring Don Mahoney in as his OL coach who also is currently at Cincy.

Nothing really new on Tee Martin, who apparently is also in play to some degree at Alabama. We are working to see what we can turn up on that front and will post news when we get it.

Jones is in the office and is apparently heading to Cincy later tonight or in the morning for a few hours.

Again, sorry for having this all spread out on the board this morning. My fault.

Tennessee: Cincinnati offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian and defensive coordinator John Jancek will join Butch Jones at Tennessee. Bajakian will serve as OC. Jancek might be DC; but is humble enough to not need the title and is willing to work as linebackers should Butch decide to bring another defensive coordinator in. Sources also tell us that Tennessee running backs coach Jay Graham will be retained. More to come...

“@BrookshireJ: @VolRumorMill Darin Hinshaw will be retained and moved from WR to QB coach according to my sources.” Recruits = happy.
....

One of these is wrong.

Per Hubbs.
Here's what I have:

HC - Jones
OC/QB - Mike Bajakian
OL - Don Mahoney
RB - Jay Graham
WR - T.J. Weist or Tee Martin
TE - ???? maybe Mark Elder - Jones' TE/Special teams coordinator at Cincy

DC - John Jancek
DL - Steve Stripling
DB - Willie Martinez is what we are hearing and believe is going to be the hire

last spot will be on defense, I think it will be a linebackers coach. Jancek has coached both at Cincy. But Martinez and Stripling have never had split units so my guess is that the last hire will be to coach linebackers.

Tommy Thigpen has accepted per Huntsville (AL) Times report. Probably LB's but has coached safeties as well.

Top 25 recruiter in '07, '09, '11. Coached 4 years at Auburn, 4 at UNC, 2 at Illinois, and 2 for Urban at Bowling Green. UNC grad.

Nothing groundbreakin, but from a respected poster on TOS:

Large buyout if he leaves for a similar position, but if he is a coordinator he is free to leave with no buyout, I am sure Tennessee has told Jones we aren't paying a buyout to USC and Kiffin, so if he comes he will be given a coordinator role or "title" to get around that buyout. Its been done 100 times, its just working around the specifics in his contracts which could take a little time. I think of Eddie Gran as one that took a while because they had to work around his contract.
I don't think you will see passing game coordinator, coaches can make him an associate head coach and it should work, just depends on how his contract is worded. He could be the Recruiting Coordinator and that may work. Takes time to work threw these type of things.
Remember Eddie Gran when he was leaving to go to FSU? FSU had to figure out a way around his contract, sounds like Kiffin likes to make them difficult to work around.
