At least LSU loves us

Based on Heuple's offensive mindset that game (very vanilla), I wondered that myself. Conference championships are basically meaningless to the top 6 teams each year (which is sad, because they used to be a source of pride).

Yes, UGA's defense had something to do with it, but I think Heuple could have schemed better for their over-confident, constant rush/blitz...... Screen-pass anyone? Wide-receiver screen? End-around? Flea-flicker?

Perhaps we'll see in a rematch.

If it works (UT wins Natty), you bet your arse other teams will do it in the future.

I made a comment right after the Bama game that this is our best (most realistic) path to the playoffs. People were angry with me.
That being said I had no idea LSU would be the likely opponent. But a Late loss in the championship game (To Bama) would hurt us more than this loss to UGA as long as they win out which is like 95% guaranteed vs LSU. We just need some help from TCU and Oregon to seal the deal. Also highly likely. I didn't like the chances of us vs Bama in Atlanta at that time.. but I dunno. Hindsight being 20/20 SEC east champs sounds good to me.

This team has been playing out of its mind and 2 years early all this season. There was gonnabe a time when we hit a wall. Better that the wall gets hit in week 9 than week 14.

If LSU wins the conference championship vs Georgia, who gets left out of the CFP? Makes our loss to Georgia look worse. Makes our stomping of LSU at Death Valley look better. Do they leave out the conference champ? Or take 3 SEC Teams? Or leave out a 1 loss TN team that stomped the Conference Champ.

They are THE Ohio State University ..... that's all that matters for some reason.

They take UGA even though they lost over a 2 loss LSU and the other three slots are OSU, USC/UCLA/Oregon, and either TCU, Michigan or Clemson.

LSU will not be selected if there are 1 loss teams available.

And quite honestly the thought is crazy because if Tennessee had won, they would be firmly in the top spot - win out during the regular season they are there - just like most believe UGA will be even if they lose the SEC championship.

That doesn't make sense to me because we lost to the number 3 team and dropped to 5. Georgia would be losing to a team outside the top 3

We should not have dropped to 5. UGA will not unless LSU literally blows them out in every way.

If at the end of the season you have:

- OSU with no losses
- TCU with no more than 1 loss and conference champion
- USC/UCLA/Oregon with no more than 1 loss and conference champion

- Clemson with no more than 1 loss and conference champion Or North Carolina with the 1 loss and conference champion
- Michigan with 1 loss (but not a conference champion)
- UGA with 1 loss (but not a conference champion)
- TN with 1 loss (but not a conference champion)
- LSU with 2 losses and a conference champion

The first three are 1-3 and 4 is from those 1 loss teams. There will not be 2 SEC teams in the playoffs. If the truly look at resumes, the choice is between UGA and TN and UGA wins. If they side with a conference champ it is Clemson/North Carolina. They would trump LSU who has 2 losses.

If TCU has 2 losses and the winner of the PAC12 has 2 losses, it will be an interesting dilemma for the committee.

As crazy as it sounds, the poster has a point

If Tennessee won Sat, they’d have to most likely play LSU or Bama a second time in SEC and most likely have to beat Georgia again in CFP. Beating those type teams once is tough enough

Personally, I'm not sure the poster has a point. You win last Saturday and you are in the playoff. Doesn't matter if you fail to beat LSU or Alabama in a 2nd time. You're still in. I don't think "losing" ever makes your chances better.

So you comfortable playing an extra game & maybe beating Georgia twice?

Uh....yeah? That extra game is for an SEC Championship. That's not nothing. Since when did winning the SEC title become something not worth pursuing? Feels like we're just coping with our loss on Saturday if you're saying that.....

You also get a month off after that to prepare if injuries are your concern.
