As crazy as it sounds, the poster has a point
If Tennessee won Sat, they’d have to most likely play LSU or Bama a second time in SEC and most likely have to beat Georgia again in CFP. Beating those type teams once is tough enough
It definitely was a different team completelyI know it’s not reasonable to think that UT “lost on purpose” but the game sure did have a strange feel to it. We showed very little emotion all game. We didn’t change up gameplay hardly any. It was almost like we very quickly accepted that it just wasn’t our day and went through the motions the rest of the game. Hard to put my finger on exactly what was going on but it felt like a different team for whatever reason or reasons.
this is incorrect. the pac12 sos kills them and they will devour any other chance. if anyone besides oregon wins the conference they have no chance. usc lost to utah. utah lost to florida....hurts both utah and usc. oregon and us lost to the same team, but out sos is stronger and in athens we lost a much closer matchup. the big12 tcu wins out will be the third team.We should not have dropped to 5. UGA will not unless LSU literally blows them out in every way.
If at the end of the season you have:
- OSU with no losses
- TCU with no more than 1 loss and conference champion
- USC/UCLA/Oregon with no more than 1 loss and conference champion
- Clemson with no more than 1 loss and conference champion Or North Carolina with the 1 loss and conference champion
- Michigan with 1 loss (but not a conference champion)
- UGA with 1 loss (but not a conference champion)
- TN with 1 loss (but not a conference champion)
- LSU with 2 losses and a conference champion
The first three are 1-3 and 4 is from those 1 loss teams. There will not be 2 SEC teams in the playoffs. If the truly look at resumes, the choice is between UGA and TN and UGA wins. If they side with a conference champ it is Clemson/North Carolina. They would trump LSU who has 2 losses.
If TCU has 2 losses and the winner of the PAC12 has 2 losses, it will be an interesting dilemma for the committee.

Saw this earlier. Screenshot from LSU board saying we threw the GA game on purpose so we could sit back and slide into the playoffs. We are "the smartest team in the room"

That's some crazy logic, friend. The most direct path to the CFP is go undefeated and win your conference championship. However, it might not be the easiest nor best. If things play out like they appear like they will, we will make the playoffs without having to play an extra game, taking an extra chance of having players hurt, and not taking a chance of getting beaten by whichever West team decides they want to go. Beating any good team twice isn’t easy, and loosing in the championship game doesn’t give you any time to climb back up the rankings.
Shush!! It's coming on the next go roundBased on Heuple's offensive mindset that game (very vanilla), I wondered that myself. Conference championships are basically meaningless to the top 6 teams each year (which is sad, because they used to be a source of pride).
Yes, UGA's defense had something to do with it, but I think Heuple could have schemed better for their over-confident, constant rush/blitz...... Screen-pass anyone? Wide-receiver screen? End-around? Flea-flicker?
Perhaps we'll see in a rematch.
If it works (UT wins Natty), you bet your arse other teams will do it in the future.
It’s alright. We’re going to to the Liverpool route of winning the big championship first and then the more localized one the following year. That's some crazy logic, friend.
Playing for a conference championship is always the best path.
We exist, our program exists, to compete for and win championships. Plural. Conference and national. Twin goals. Every year.
And you can't win them if you don't play in them.
