At least LSU loves us

Lol stupidity. Ouf best chance to make the playoff was always beating UGA. A loss I'm the Championship game would never of dropped us out of it.

As crazy as it sounds, the poster has a point

If Tennessee won Sat, they’d have to most likely play LSU or Bama a second time in SEC and most likely have to beat Georgia again in CFP. Beating those type teams once is tough enough

I know it’s not reasonable to think that UT “lost on purpose” but the game sure did have a strange feel to it. We showed very little emotion all game. We didn’t change up gameplay hardly any. It was almost like we very quickly accepted that it just wasn’t our day and went through the motions the rest of the game. Hard to put my finger on exactly what was going on but it felt like a different team for whatever reason or reasons.

It definitely was a different team completely

The most direct path to the CFP is go undefeated and win your conference championship. However, it might not be the easiest nor best. If things play out like they appear like they will, we will make the playoffs without having to play an extra game, taking an extra chance of having players hurt, and not taking a chance of getting beaten by whichever West team decides they want to go. Beating any good team twice isn’t easy, and loosing in the championship game doesn’t give you any time to climb back up the rankings.

We should not have dropped to 5. UGA will not unless LSU literally blows them out in every way.

If at the end of the season you have:

- OSU with no losses
- TCU with no more than 1 loss and conference champion
- USC/UCLA/Oregon with no more than 1 loss and conference champion

- Clemson with no more than 1 loss and conference champion Or North Carolina with the 1 loss and conference champion
- Michigan with 1 loss (but not a conference champion)
- UGA with 1 loss (but not a conference champion)
- TN with 1 loss (but not a conference champion)
- LSU with 2 losses and a conference champion

The first three are 1-3 and 4 is from those 1 loss teams. There will not be 2 SEC teams in the playoffs. If the truly look at resumes, the choice is between UGA and TN and UGA wins. If they side with a conference champ it is Clemson/North Carolina. They would trump LSU who has 2 losses.

If TCU has 2 losses and the winner of the PAC12 has 2 losses, it will be an interesting dilemma for the committee.
this is incorrect. the pac12 sos kills them and they will devour any other chance. if anyone besides oregon wins the conference they have no chance. usc lost to utah. utah lost to florida....hurts both utah and usc. oregon and us lost to the same team, but out sos is stronger and in athens we lost a much closer matchup. the big12 tcu wins out will be the third team.

you would then have.....uga, ohst, tcu, VOLS as playoff teams. even if uga loses in the sec title game

That's some crazy logic, friend.

Playing for a conference championship is always the best path.

We exist, our program exists, to compete for and win championships. Plural. Conference and national. Twin goals. Every year.

And you can't win them if you don't play in them.

Based on Heuple's offensive mindset that game (very vanilla), I wondered that myself. Conference championships are basically meaningless to the top 6 teams each year (which is sad, because they used to be a source of pride).

Yes, UGA's defense had something to do with it, but I think Heuple could have schemed better for their over-confident, constant rush/blitz...... Screen-pass anyone? Wide-receiver screen? End-around? Flea-flicker?

Perhaps we'll see in a rematch.

If it works (UT wins Natty), you bet your arse other teams will do it in the future.
Shush!! It's coming on the next go round 🤣🤣🤫🤐

Actually, it seems LSU has sort of been in our corner during our worst times, even some fans Youtubed positive stuff about us. I think they have an underlying appreciation and respect for the Vols.

It’s alright. We’re going to to the Liverpool route of winning the big championship first and then the more localized one the following year.

Considering Heupel’s contract likely has built in incentives/bonuses for reaching the SECCG, another for winning the SECCG and the additional revenue the University receives in doing so, I doubt seriously he’s throwing any games. We got beat, that’s all.

Oregon is getting in if they have only one loss. Their next two games are against Washington (7-2, #25) and Utah (7-2, #13). They finish with Oregon State (which could well be 8-3 and ranked on gameday) and then would presumably face either USC or UCLA in the Pac-12 championship game, and whichever one they face will almost certainly be ranked in the top 10. In other words, Oregon may well play four ranked teams to close the season, one of them in the top 10. Their loss to Georgia can be written off as first game, new coach, new QB, etc.

I could see USC getting in as a one loss Pac-12 champion as they are currently #8 and finish with Colorado, #13 UCLA, #20 Notre Dame, and then would face current #6 Oregon in the Pac-12 championship game. Yes, their schedule up to this point is absolute trash but the committee has them at #8 right now.

Considering that the Pac-12 hasn't been in the playoff since the 2016 season I think it's almost a certainty that a one-loss Oregon or USC gets in this year. But there are still a lot of ways for those teams to take another loss so we have to wait and see.

The only focus that this team should have, is the next three games. Lose any of those and the dream of being in the CFP is gone. Even if we should win all three, even by a wide margin, there is the possibility that we would not make it. Handle what is in their hands and good things will happen.
