For 6 years this team and program have fed off of Pearl's attiude. His demeanor was how the team played. Whether borderline arrogance, flustered, or us against everybody, the team has taken the persona of Pearl and played accordingly. That's why it was so fun to watch that first team and the team after "the incident" last year.
I can't help but think overall that it still holds true. He's flustered and looks like he's gone 12 rounds with late 80s Mike Tyson after everything. I think he sees the writing on the wall, knows he's lost this team, knows there is nothing he can do, and just plays are most talented players howing we can just out-talent other guys. His trump card, ability to motivate players, is gone, and he's not enough of a tactician to out-scheme other guys to make up for it.
The coach and team lacked composure all year.

When are you people going to realize that it is not that easy to find a good coach who can win consistently? See Arkansas, Kentucky, and Alabama (football).

I think that Pearl simply got too ambitious. He built the program, tasted success, almost got us to the Final Four, and he wants no doubt to win a title, which is why he broke rules. It's great to be ambitious, but you can't break rules and I think he has learned that. Our smartest move is to tough it and stick with the guy. And I'd like to see Hamilton and Co. make it clear to the NCAA that you can't slap Calhoun on the wrist and then come down hard on Pearl. In any case, if we sack Pearl we'll go back to being a nothing program again.
one or two bad years with a good coach than sack him and return to mediocrity. Winning occurred before Pearl? Yea, about 25 years before Pearl! And in between Ray Mears and Pearl we had, what, about six coaches--none of whom was any good. Devoe could coach but was a lousy recruiter, Green could recruit but was a TERRIBLE coach and the others were bad at both.
You sure as hell can adapt by stopping the reaching.

Won't find me performing the same sleaze in my professional and personal life like the scum you incessantly defend.

I, as a fan, have to stop expecting for this staff and group of players to make in-game adjustments. The officiating was atrocious, but the adjustment was never made to stop the damn hand checking 40 feet from the basket.
I've never liked Pearl, as most know. But his salesmanship helped to resurrect a program that desperately needed it. I just hope that whoever the next hire is, is a coach with significantly greater game management. And a house full of people all agreed tonight that that end is imminent. The program doesn't need to be sold to anyone anymore. This inability to adapt is causing too many inconsistencies.
I don't incessantly defend him. I question your ability to judge integrity and character based off the pm you sent me a couple weeks ago. That showed great character, if you are a cowardice hypocrite.

A house full of people decided it was time to go because our team is only going to limp into the tournament instead of make an elite 8 again?
A house full of people are going to be really disappointed when he is back next season.
Our record this year has absolutely nothing to do with me wanting him gone.

I hope you and all the other keyboard coaches are miserable next year when he is back. Everyone else will be quite happy cause we'll be making another tournament appearance, extending the most successful era in the history of Tennessee hoops.

So even if the coach is good and the team plays better we'll still be mediocre because the fans aren't as excited? Solid analysis.
